Indian Caste is stupid... internal racism

I believe the caste system practiced in India is a really stupid and non productive culture. In fact, anyway in the world...

The sad thing is... it is not discrimination by foreign power like the British empire use to practice... but it is among the same countrymen... which I call internal racism...

Just think about it... if you are an indian, you go anyway in the world you are known as Indian ... not by your caste...

Yeah, what is it with the caste system in India? I've never been able to work that part of Indian culture out aside from thinking it's the best way for a tiny minority to rule over a large majority.

Sounds good but sadly its not true as many people still follow caste system and discriminate people on the basis of caste and other factors. :(

The cast system doesn't exist much in most civilized cities in India. Its more of a way to keep control of people in smaller villages. More populated modernized cities are doing away with that system or so I've read, but I could be wrong.

The untouchables, the dalits, are treated like shit in India, also in so called "civilized cities". Thats cruelty and egoism in a nut shell.

I wasn't saying that it doesn't exist period. I was saying that it is toned down now, not perfect in anyway but there have been great improvements in the last twenty years.

As with any traditional and outdated practices, I believe this will slowly down off as India progresses. Traditions won't change overnight, the caste system existed I guessed because it would be easier to control the population in ancient times but as the middle class in India goes more and more, such practices will slowly die. I do not think we should condemn others' traditions, each race have their own "stupid" traditions.

Hey, are you reading history friend? :p Caste was inside the Hindu society which is almost disappeared now. Though it was spreaded in other societies but "It was", no one really point this anymore. I personally think, all Indian sub-continental people love to manipulate their own nationality, caste is mostly negligible ;)

The caste system is still being followed in villages while in metro cities you are treated as normal Indian judged by your talent and wisdom not by your caste.

And oh yes the people who talk about caste system are illiterates and that's why they talk all the BS stuff. If you are educated then you wont even love to discuss about caste system.

What do you mean? Are you saying people shouldn't bring the subject up (despite it's existence) or that people are illiterate if they even mention it or what?
