So I was using a blacklink checker to find out what sites are providing me what PR and traffic and I noticed a PR4 site called IMPS2005. I went to the site and saw a bunch of crap and then on the right hand side in the "blogroll" was my link with the anchor text "Poker Forums". Why do I have that link? I have never visited the site or posted to any blogs asking for a link. I'm really confused but kinda happy that I have another PR4 link
Yeah that does seem like a random link to have, especially on that page. Maybe they're just a fan of your site! Either way, a free link that you don't have to do anything for, is pretty nice, especially on a PR4.
Many things don't need to have a reason , maybe the owner is interested to your site and wanted to share with his visitors . Grats!
Sometime sites just add links for keyword terms. If link is direct and site is not link farm be happy.
Well it can't do anything bad right? I realise there are well over 100+ outbound links but to have a link near the top of a PR4 page can't be bad for a site surely?
May be your website have good resources for poker related discussions, so they liked it, and want to help their readers to go in the discussion related to poker and casino business, so they are promoting your link for free to help their visitors. still congratulations, hopefully you will be getting more and more links like this.
I know what you mean. Having published hundreds of articles online I always like seeing one of them turn up unexpectedly on a high traffic quality and targeted high pagerank site with a nice, juicy backlink pointing back to my "money" site. Just some of the benefits for regularly publishing high quality, money making content that bridges gaps and meets needs in the marketplace. Of course, if it's just a linkfarm like the one in your example, then it is not necessarily bad because it still contributes to your overall pagerank, but it's not great either unless you've got some good analytics showing regular traffic and high clickthrough rates coming from that site.
