What if the domain extension forms your desired keyword?

Lets say the .com of a domain is gone but you have the alternative using the domain extension is it of any use or value?

    For example:

livetv.com is gone but live.tv is available, is there any value in purchasing the alternative in terms of SEO benefit and domain name value?

    TY

I doubt it....i've found domains to have little seo weight. If anything it's better for brandability, but in terms of seo value it's not worth much if anything.

I don't really think a .tv will make too much difference. The one problem you may get is that television related websites may pop up along your search results.

But when you do a search for example 'live tv' if the search includes a .tv domain then the tv in .tv is highlighted aswell as the other keyword therefore suggesting that search engines use each and every part of a domain to find relevant keywords.

    Thats my findings anyway.

It still doesn't count as a keyword towards positioning.

If you do your SEO work properly, it won't matter at all. The value of matching the "tv" is so insignificant given how many millions of web sites are already in the search engines with "tv" somewhere in and on them, and so many "authority" web sites have that two letter word in them.

Focus on your SEO and don't worry about the domain name for it's SEO help or hurt. If you like having your identity brand built with that as part of the domain name, great.
