Something fishy going on in this forum and I'm NOT HAPPY!

OK...here's the story (I'm pissed off!)

I woke this morning to find 3 payments have been made FROM MY PAYPAL account, NOT MADE BY ME!!!

And they all relate to either this forum, or people with Indian names...what the hell is going on?

One payment of $4 was made to weblover78 ( )on this forum.

One payment of $30 was made to UnifiedRegistrar ().

One payment of $4 was made to
with the subject "DP for posting".

Now someone better come forward and tell me what's going on...if I find out who did this...boy are they in trouble!

The account that was used had no money in it, so now I've incurred $80 in overdrawn fees.

This is disgusting...I have only used Paypal twice on this forum...once to pay
111Toxicity111 for his book and once to pay aditya_vikram9211 for one of his blogs.

Now I'm going to be in touch with these people and ask who paid them....

Maybe you should be in touch with Paypal to deal with this?

How did they gain access to your info? Paypal should reimburse you.

I have absolutely no idea...I never give out any of my details...It's only since I made 2 payments on these baords as I said in my first post.

I'm not happy at all.

I have already submitted unauthorised transaction claims with Paypal and changed my password.

i imagine you're really pissed off with this (i can't imagine what i would do), but hopefully this will not make you think all DP members are like this.
many people got f*****, it very annoying, but it can happen anywhere, not only over here.

anyways, good luck with this.
i'll drop in from time to time to see what's going on with this

Strange that it's for such small amounts... You'd think a thief would go for everything possible, wouldn't you? Unless they were hoping that low-level activity would go unnoticed and could continue indefinitely?

Did you pay anybody using a link rather than going directory through your paypal account?

I don't think it was the users mentioned that are the problem. My theory is that somebody phished your account via e-mail or if you followed a link on DP. Then they signed on DP and made a thread offering $4 to post however much. Those 2 people signed up and were paid. The $30 was used to fund their namecheap.com account and buy domains. You have every right to be mad, but I don't think weblover78 and the other guy are responsible. You're best bet would be to ask them who has paid them $4 recently for posting.

EDIT* wait you already knew that lol I thought I was on to something.

I think you must have clicked a link in your email which led to phishing of your paypal.
Be careful from next time scozzie, take it as a lesson well learned :)

Best wishes

Yea...that's what I suspected...I know it won't be the 2 guys who are responsible...someone else has done it...but I have been in touch with those 2 guys asking who paid them...if I can find that out, then I know who hacked my account.

The funny thing is I'm pretty cluey with this sort of stuff, I have a B/ENG in computer networking...so I know I havent clicked on any phishing emails or anything, so I have no idea how anyone could get into my account. I NEVER logon to Paypal or my bank or eBay or ANYTHING from any emails that I am sent.

Being a BE does not matter i suppose, its just a little common sense which is required here, and we sometimes unknowingly click on links so just be happy that you did not lose much cash, just be aware next time on.

Yea I realise that...but I am 100% sure I have never clicked on any dodgy link.

TheDrew831 thanks for that...that's very interesting...$4 was paid to him for something related to DP according to the Paypal transaction...I'll see what I can find!

I,m guessing you have talked to Paypal what did they have say about this? perhaps there was a payment account mix up? Either way I think you
should be compensated by paypal if it was their error. :)

I don't think it has anything to do with the forums internally, just some personal maybe. I recommend that you change ur password AS WELL your security questions. You're lucky to only be hit by small amount, I been hit by hundreds before.

I also recommend that you contact namecheap and explain the situation and maybe they will give up the name on the account or the domains registered with the money that is yours.
