Grouping Keywords/Campaign Structure

I want to test a new dating offer through adwords... I'm wondering how you guys would suggest organizing the campaign. There are 3 main keyword groups that I can think of, 'Dating','Singles', and 'Personals'. Would you create 3 different campaigns, one for each of these groups, then have ad groups that dig deeper into each of these types? So like, if you were to localize it, you might have New York Dating, California Dating, etc. as ad groups inside the Dating campaign, then the same for Singles and Personals...

    Thanks!

You would structure it the other way around.

The campaign would be geo targeted and then the adgroups would be based on your theme of dating, singles and personals...

    Why?

Because you cannot geo target adgroups to different regions around the USA. Only campaign can be geo targeted.

    Unless

You want to allow new yorkers to search for California dating

    but

I hope you have lots of money to spend, the dating scene is highly competitive and major player budgets are close to or over 1 million per month in Google ad spend alone.

Gotcha! Thanks... Anyone can really search for it, it's not so much about geotargeting as it is about having ad groups related together.

I've been doing some tests lately and have one white label that's been doing fairly well... so now I'm hoping to scale it... my budget isn't a million or even close, but around $20k/m which should be enough to at least capture some volume.

    Hi,

    Good advice from Robert.

With all the competition in the dating market, you should really do your keyword research. Try going for long tail keywords where you can. Also split test ads. You'll find Google's Optimiser a great free tool.

    Cheers and good luck.

there is another upside for dissecting your account to different campaigns and different GEO's and that is because you can only limit and cap you budget at campaign level.
so it gives you more flexibility when you shoot out a campaign to different parts of the US. maybe some stats \ cities will be worth more of your money than others and you can cap their budget spent accordingly
