Does anyone know any specific links to Directory Lists for the following Scripts? eSyndiCat IndexU phpLynx SiteSift I couldn't find anything on their forums. I would appreciate any input. Thanks!
I can only speak for phpLynx. We actively discourage making lists and also to remove the footer attributes, this way they avoid getting listed in bad neighbourhoods and prevents spamming.
One thing worth keeping in mind is when hackers go on the rampage, well i know its hardly going to be difficult for them to find dirs running any particular script but at least not make it any easier for them. What i mean is when they find a weakness and attack a few hundred sites running the same script. Best not to help them in anyway.
Such a sad commentary on the state of the net that we have to worry more about scum than we can share and celebrate our successes.
This is not a rule. Even if you remove the "powered by" link or logo they could easily get a list of phpLD powered directories and smash you. Dunno about other directory scripts because I am not interested about them. But yes, I remember I got hacked 1 year ago on my arcade game site by a turkish kid based on the "powered by" stuff. Anyway, if someone want to hack you, you will get hacked. It is just a matter of time.
