Should I trust dreamhost.com?

I am saving money $714 to pay to Dreamhost as they have a package of $714 for Ten years.

I just want to pay once and relax for the next ten years. And dreamhost.com is a big company so I can trust them that they will not run away.

But is this decision of paying for 10 years in advance is good or not?

Should I trust dreamhost for that long time or not?

Well 1-2 years in advance is fine but I don't suggest you pay 10 years in advance :)

Even the most reliable company in the world can have a lot of changes (and maybe even close down) in 10 years :)

Webspace becomes cheaper and cheaper from year to year... I think this is not a good idea to pay such a price in advance...
However, its up to you :)

I got to agree here.. In 2 years you might get the same package for half the price.. Who knows?

Second, Dreamhost has alot of restrictions, that is why they can offer the amount of resources they do! So you got to think otherwise!

Will i in 2 years have such big websites that dreamhost will suspend me for overuse of resources? Will my website in 2 years require a VPS or Dedicated to run stable?

If that's the case, then 8 years of payment is going straight out the window? The maximum you should pay is 3 years in advanced! My personal opinion is that anyone offer more years is not really to "serious" about how they offer their products and how their clients needs might change during the years!

10 years is not a good option, But I personally use DreamHost and I trust them. Highly recommended!

You can go with 10yr plan...! I dont think there will be problems.

What kind of restrictions they have?

And actually my sites are simple static sites, they will not take much of the resources of their servers.

Do you face any restrictions on dreamhost as the above person is saying?

Are you serious? First of all dreamhost is be biggest over-seller around. You would be better off going with a smaller host since you have small sites. I understand if you pay for 1 or 2 years but 10??

As I said in your topic on WHT, 10 years is not a good idea.

What if they suspend you or terminate you after the money-back-guarantee time is over? You're finished.

First, I would not use dreamhost. Second, I would not prepay for 10 years with any host.

Wow, 10 years prepaid, that is a lot. If anything just get a years worth. You don't know what your site will need in the future anyway. You want to remain flexible, you might need a dedicated server in the future if you grow really big. Check out hostgator.com, I have not had a problem with them. [IMG]

If you're gonna use hosting for a few static pages, then why would you use dreamhost?

I personally use DreamHost, and believe me, their servers are excellent. I know because I also had a hosting account with NetFirms, and it was PURE CRAP.

But if you are gonna use it mostly for static pages, then better get a free account with www.110mb.com

And even if you decide to invest money into DreamHost hosting, I would advice against subscribing to a 10-year plan. Dreamhost has an Automatic system, so even if you select Monthly Plan, it would be automatically renewed every month without personal intervention.

you should not pay for 10 years in advance
there is not any risk but it is not worth to do that
you should pay max for 1 or 2 years
not more than that to any hosting company
