Good god, the desperate do grow more so. This is why I say Guerilla has religious views - not as a slam to the religious, but because it can only come down, eventually, to a statement of belief. Not sure what part of Buffett raising money for Democrats solely, endorsing Obama, and declaring himself a "lonely Democrat" in a community of capitalists makes him, uh, not a Democrat in word and deed.

Grownups can recognize this as pandering to the winning side.

Buffet is a free market capitalist of the highest order. He has a lifetime of achievement and billions of dollars to back that up.

That he is pandering to the Democrats and Obama, probably says more about the DNC and Obama's tendencies to fulfill special interest agendas.

Regardless, this is a thread about economics, not your personal political socialist fetishes. I was so enjoying having one thread on this forum you would not stalk me in. Looks like you will destroy this thread and conversation as well. At this rate, it will only be you and I in P&R.

Yes, yes, I know, Guerilla. As with so many threads. I enter the thread, you come in after to post nonsense, I (and others) say, uh, no, you're wrong, provide evidence as to why, and it's everyone else who are whacked stalkers. Supreme, misguided arrogance, as usual, and just sad, really.

Only because he knows how much power he can buy back later.

You know, when the Federal Reserve came into existence, all of the bankers were for it. It was this organization that would rule them, and limit what they could do.

You know why they were for it? Actually, not only for it, but helped plan and fund the PR campaign to get it?

Because they knew they would be able to control who ran the FED.

And likewise, Buffet has great populist rhetoric, but he knows who butters which side of his bread.

Taxing the rich is the oldest socialist (I don't like using liberal, people like Obama and Clinton are not liberals) trick in the book. Yeah, punish the leaders, the investors, the innovators, the employers.

Shouldn't be this hard, but for at least one, apparently, it is:

    Weimar Inflation in America
    http://www.kitco.com/ind/Turk/turk_may262008.html

Depressing but really interesting historical article. Most people don't know what happened in the Weimar Republic, they don't even own maps!

And they probably don't have a f**king clue what is happening in Zimbabwe right now, or around the world for that matter. Food prices are soaring, shortages are occurring, and governments are getting nervous.

But hey, let's not hope it's a Depression. Because despite Wikipedia deleting this Russian scholarly study of the Great Depression, the reality of such a situation is that a lot of people will lose everything they have, then they will be put into government work programs/camps, or die of starvation.

Funny how we don't have any f**king maps. Or a goddamn clue about history.

Hunh? Proven by whom? Wikipedia editors? We even have some of them on this forum, believe me, they are only slightly smarter than me. And that's not saying much at all, as we know.

Let's assume you are right about starvation from famine. Because we all know the Depression was (1) engineered and (2) created the greatest transition of wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthy.

So your outlook in the case of a new Depression, is that you will not starve, you will probably end up in a work camp, separated from your immediate family, with all of your possessions confiscated.

But hey, this is just a correction....

You'd think someone would notice about 6% of the population disappearing in a year or so. Guess not.

Point was too obvious for ya, huh? I think this is simply another case in point of Guerilla believing something he reads because he likes the premise. You are fond of that, aren't you? ;)

Be afraid. Be very afraid. -They- are coming to git ya!

Or you'd expect the life expectancy to drop during the 30's. Let's check the results.

    http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0005148.html

    1930 - 59.7 years
    1935 - 61.7 years

Nope. That 6% decrease in the US population didn't affect life expectancy. That seems odd to me.

Maybe the world death rate went up during the 1932/33 famine. League of Nations said nope. World death-rate declined during the 1930s and worldwide life expectancy continued to rise.

You're too easy, dude. You should at least support claims that are supportable.

But look out, they are comin' to git ya. -They- just need a "reason"!

Black Helicopters are on the pad waiting to take your family away and even your Xbox! The Horrors!

Oh wait. I just read Guerilla's link. LOL

    No other explanation.

You'd think a constitutional scholor, such as Guerilla, could figure out the problem here. I'll help him out. No thanks needed!

Criminies, Guerilla. You are gullible aren't you?

This assumes that trends always stay the same. Worldwide birthrates fell during the 30's (wonder why!). Assuming existence of people then not being able to account for them? Stunning research.

Alex Jones would be proud of you, dude.
