Hello Last month i was in trouble due to credit card charge backs !! total 85$s were charged back by my customer even though i kept his links on my blog !! So is there any way by which we can identify/STOP/avoid the credit card payments to My Paypal to avoid such scammer ? Lots of Scammers are taking advantage to CC ChargeBack fac. and Webmasters dont have any proof to show to paypal for transactions like Link sell, Domain sell , etc (Paypal Wont trust our PMs and etc )!! -Chetan
Share the name with us so that we might not be in trouble after selling links or blogposts to the same person.. There is no remedy for the credit card chargebacks , you can always look that you should do business with reputed persons on DP

You could if you do not do automated fulfilment. Log into your paypal account each time someone pays you and in the transaction description it will tell you if it is funded through a credit card or via a paypal balance. then just refund the transaction if it is not paid by a credit card. However, on a realistic end, you need to understand that by rejecting credit card payments, you will be reducing your market base quite significantly. Instead of being able of receiving payments from all the 190+ countries supported by Paypal, you will be reducing your market base to other sellers from the 40+ Send/Receive countries which still have paypal balances. You will not be able to sell to anyone who is not a seller or if they do not keep balance balances.
Hi Eddy, sorry but i never get such details like "Credit card payments" or "Paypal balance payments " in my paypal transaction details. i have "Verified NON US Premier" Paypal A/c. Please tell me how can i identify such Payments. and whats that ""automated fulfillment."" ?? I understand that i am refusing lots of money. but i am taking this step to keep record of CC payments in my paypal so that i will aware of charge backs !!. i am not going to refund that money , i will just keep my eyes on that Transactions.
I too have a non-US Verified Premier account too. After you log into Paypal, do you see a list of transactions listed at the bottom of the page ? If not, click on the 'History' on the second row of the top tabs under 'My Account'. This will give you the list of all your transactions both receive and send. Click on 'Details' for one of your Receive transaction and look at the 'Payment Type'. If it shows up as 'Instant', it means they use the Paypal balance to pay. You will know if it is paid by a credit card as it would show that. Automated Fulfilment is when after your customer orders something from you, you give them the link to download something immediately or if you use an automated script which would allow them to post the link to your site or something. Of course, if you have to do whatever work you are paid to do manually then it is not automated fulfilment. Of course with paypal balance payment, there is nothing stopping your customer to raise a dispute and get his money back. The important thing is to do your due diligence by finding out about your customer first and when you are very comfortable to deal with them that you accept his payment whether it be via credit card or paypal balance.

Oops sorry I am wrong. Well, you are right there is no way to determine if the other party pays with a credit card or paypal balance.

I try to avoid payments using credit cards as much as possible, but the downside is you are loosing a lot of potential business if you continue with that practice.
Well, it is not true that those who uses credit cards are out to scam you. It would depend on the customer you deal with and with an online global population that is that huge, we would certainly experience a level of fraud. In my limited 3 years experience with Paypal, I experienced more chargebacks and disputes then when I used a pure breed credit card processor like Plimus. The thing is that Paypal cuts corners in terms of fraud protections so as to lower the fees levied to you, which would please people who wants to save some money but inevitably affects the level of frauds. I am sure that you seen here that people who have total disregards for rules when they signed up for their paypal accounts and out from them, you would expect a number of bad hats. It is best that you get to know your customer first before dealing with them irregardless of whether they use paypal balances or credit card to pay you. For someone who wants to engage in fraud, it would not matter what mode of payment he uses.
Never sell anything to less reputed users , it happened to me a lot of times but I keep the record with me and give harsh responce to that kind clients !
if im not mistaken, doesnt pay pal have the feature or ability to reject cards that dont match up to the country/billing address? and honestly id try to move away from paypal if possible, i understand its cheaper, but my business bank, Huntington Banks, actually gave me a deal that is MUCH better than paypal. frankly its dirt cheap. but, i have to do 100% of my credit card transactions for the business through it. and if im not mistaken, you can over step paypal and argue it with the credit card companies. sometimes they are more likely to listen than paypal. i know ive had that problem in the past, called mastercard/visa sent them copies of emails, screen shots of messages, etc. and usually they over turn the charge back, refund me the money they took, and paid me my bank fees back. depends on how hard your willing to fight it. good luck
Once you log into your paypal account click on profile. Under selling preferences you will see Payment Receiving Preferences (fifth one down) Here you can set it up so that you don't accept people who do not have a confirmed address. These are the ones that usually cause charge backs, usually stolen credit cards. This is really the best you can do atm. Hope this helps...good luck
thats what i was thinking, plus there is also some other software out there, i use WHMCS that has an intergrated fraud check service. my fraud settings are very tight, anything more than a 1.1 gets rejected. so basically if your address and card number doesnt match, its tossed. i know there are some services out there that offer credit card fraud checks. most give you xxxx free before they charge. and its usually just 2-5cents each, depending on your volume. the service that i use even checks the ISP that the card number is used from, and if it doesnt match the geographic region the card is issued from, it marks it with like 2-3 points, which is auto rejected anyways because its above 1.1.
Exercise discretion. The Itrader and reputation system is there for a reason. If the buyer charged back, remove his links.
that may be so, but from what i gather, itrader isnt that reliable anyways. besides, what if your doing something with someone whos never been on this forum? how are you going to check their itrader or rep then? just a thought..
