Hi there, I need the wisdom of some lawyer spirit. The TOS of Google Adsense are kind of restrictive concerning the communication of CTR, ECPM and so on. Right, we can still reveal the full amount. But that' s not enough to establish a clear and free market. Google is such a force on the advertising market: maybe not a monopole, but it's Adsense and the little small others (damned i wish Microsoft to get its hands over yahoo to build a real competitor!)... So I was wondering if there wasn't a way through legal means to compel Google to authorize us to freely discuss whatever figures we want. And in case would a class action be possible in the USA or in a European country? I'm interested by all opinions, even if you're not a lawyer from Harvard. ;-)
EU could sue AdSense, they have experience with big companies like Microsoft. But someone should organize everything. The only reason why Google won't allow you to share full details about your earnings is to prevent that people see how LOW AdSense pay per click
My suggestion would be to not waste time over something so trivial. From Google's standpoint, disclosing those figures would inform other publishers of a given website's earnings-per-click (EPC). I hope you've already caught my drift, but publishers releasing such information could definitely create a flood of 'Made-For-Adsense' websites. After all, do you know the average EPC that any particular website being sold in the marketplace is likely boasting? I presume not; and I would further assume it's better that things be kept that way for the sake of quality.
Want to be able to talk about whatever stats concerning my site. Even be able to disclose earnings per click. I think that if we were able to publicly communicate our stats then the whole online advertising market would be much more transparent. Transparency would be much better both for advertisers and us, publishers: It is the only basis on which we may hope to build further the online ad market. Fear of MFA isn't enough to justify such policy by Adsense TOS. It's like burying one's head into the sand. More seriously is there anyone who may tell if there is any way to break this part of the TOS?
If you believe that disclosing CTR numbers is what is necessary to make online advertising better (you call it more transparent) then you are either new to the business or very naive. Either way, I can basically guarantee that the big money makers will not bother sharing their data with everyone in order to protect their businesses; the small guys are only the ones going nuts over these numbers which mean next to nothing without knowledge of a site's long term strategy. That said, participation in the AdSense program is not mandatory and you can always switch to one that gives you more freedom to share your data. Cheers!
I wouldn't share my stats even if I were authorized to. All this would do is create 5,679 more threads about "how much do you make" which we DON'T NEED. If you have problems with the TOS, you shouldn't have agreed to them.
Oh I don't know about that, I think it would take longer. I know for a fact that I'd need _at least_ 10 seconds before I was able to stop LMAO, regain composure and tell the person to GTF out of my courtroom LOL
Hi, I can agree on one thing, the World Wide Web should get more quality advertisement companies such Adsense, the competition will be healthy for both, Adsense and us the entrepreneurs
The CTR, ECPM and so on is considered business secrets. And Google dont want an business partner to reveal the business secrets. I dont like it,but I dont blame them. And you will never win a law suit against them. You signed a contract remember...
