Israel imposes a 10-year ban on American critic of Israeli policies
    http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/05/27/finkelstein/index.html

    Excerpt
    Ha'aretz: Who's afraid of Finkelstein?
    http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/987465.html

Lately the Israel/Palestine discussions have died down, but I really enjoyed the Glen Greenwald column, and will be listening to his MP3 interviews (linked in the column). The way that no one can discuss Israel without rebuke, censorship or outright attack is silly. It does a disservice to Jews everywhere. Israel should be willing to discuss and defend it's positions. That the first and last resort is usually personal attacks and smears (even calling other Jews, antisemitic) is crazy, and in my opinion, perpetuates negative opinions of Israel, deserved or not.

It's a good article, worth the read, and worth a personal investigation following from it.

The problem with all of this is that this whole issue is loaded beyond scope. In point of fact, on this forum no less than anywhere else, there are people who impute some kind of worldwide jewish conspiracy to every ill known to modern man; there are those who ascribe the actions of Islamist fundamentalist terror to every muslim, worldwide; and agendas in place on all sides so that the truth be irreparably damned.

    Here is a poem :

    DON'T GO TO THEIR WAR

    My young brother Eliyahu
Before you go to the next war,
think of the previous war or let me tell you
how Grandfather on Mom's side pulled out
all his teeth, anything so as not to go to Their war.
    My young brother Eliyahu,
    don't go to their war.

Not quite right. The majority do want peace, but not at the cost of security. To say their voices are silenced just puts your spin on it. They have a voice with their vote and continue to vote for their national security as their primary concern.

If there was not a constant security threat from the Palestinians (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc.) I think there would be more movement toward peace.

Canadians for Justice & Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) and the undersigned call on Israel to reinstate Dr. Norman Finkelstein's right to travel to the occupied Palestinian territories. Israel arbitrarily revoked this right on Saturday, May 24.

still majority want peace but their voice is silenced.like all of the people that opposed the war on Iwreck war. it is not that i do not think they want security. i just disagree in the way of reaching security and i am sure a lot of israelis feel the same way, but their voices are lost and their ideas take a back seat while it is obvious after 60 years that the current aproach does not bring security or peace but maybe a little more land in west bank. israel needs to look and find a way to have peace along with security. and the best way is negotiation with their enemies.
they are doing that but there are the extreme right that try to derail this process.
they did the same when they killed rabin.

It's worth noting that you linked through to an Israeli newspaper - you'll find far more debate and criticism of current Israeli policy in Israel than you would do in the US press.

Has anybody read Finkelstein's book The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering? WOW! I tell you that is a knockout read...

Norman Finkelstein is being crucified for telling the truth we all know but dare not speak. Ask Philip Weiss, ask Dennis Fox, ask Noam Chomsky, ask Ran Hacohen, and they all will tell you what the truth is.

Once again, truth has been silenced.

I actually try to do some research on the things I discuss.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=836883

Unfortunately, for some time now, I've been called an antisemite by the same people on this board who think they are such big Israel and Judaic boosters, but don't know the first thing about either.

The culture of stupidity and slander extends from Finkelstein down to each and every one of us. I recently said, if you don't read Ha'aretz, then don't lecture me on Israel. Christian Zionism, is not Israeli Zionism.
Second that. Welcome back gauharjk! Please stick around this time! :)

Hard to hear their voices when rockets are lobbed at them and bullets randomly ring by.

You should go out and shoot a gun someday, but don't use any ear protection, this might help you understand how their voices are being silenced. This doesn't compare to how deafening an explosion can be.

Oh my.... I am wrong? You watch too many movies. The sound from a gun close up can make your ears ring, can you imagine what a real (not movie) explosioin can do to your hearing?
