    hi i'm a newbie to clickbank. i've recently signed up and am eager to start promoting some products using the various techniques i've been reading about on the internet. whilst looking for information about clickbank i've come across sites and srticles that say its a good idea to cloak your hop link so people cant steal your affiliate sales.

    my plan is to write articles mostly and a couple fo other methods. should i always have my hop link cloaked when i'm writing an article for example. if someone with experience could explain in a bit of detail what this is about i'd really appreciate it.

    cheers.

    Cloaking basically means hiding your affiliate link. Some people also say, it helps to protect your sales from being stolen.

    There are many ways to cloak your links. Here are few of them:

    1. Simple cloaking, such as www.tinyurl.com or www.cloakreferer.com
    2. HTML Cloaking
    3. PHP Cloaking
    4. Frame Cloaking
    5. Top level domain redirect(forwarding)

    I am sure if you Google these terms you will be able to find out more about them.

    three3s

    Yes, cloak your links where possible. I would personally suggest to do HTML or PHP cloaking. Be careful with Ezine though. They don't allow affiliate links, only top level domains, if it's an affiliate link.

    Thank, You bl4ckmaN^ !
    I already found this, because I started one new method ( maybe the first one real method for me ), and posting and add, in one classfield site, I got a nice error - Your website url will be replaced with ******* ! In just a few seconds I got an idea .. to use some tinyurl ! But .. without any success, because they are blocking anything which contains http or .xxx ! Then I just placed in this style : www [dot] somewebsite [dot] com , and my add jumped into live list :)

    a good reason to cloak your link is to hide your keywords/landing page from the affiliate networks. A good PhP Redirect, should work, and running that through another domain should protect you even more. Never Share your landing page with ANYONE!

    Don't cloak from your article. Cloak from your sales page. It will just cause you grief.

    thanks for the reply bl4ckman. when you say top level domain, does that mean www.something.com, instead of www.something.com/somethingelse for example?

    hi vene, thanks for the reply. when you say a good php redirect should work and running that through another domain, does this mean having a domain with no website on it, just this php code, which when someone visits it they are automatically redirected to the sales page of the product your promoting as an affiliate through clickbank? also you say never share your sales page with anyone, doesn't every affiliate who promotes a (the same) product direct their leads to the same page, but just using their own hoplinks?

    sorry i'm a bit confused, never done anything like this before.

    Yes, that's what I mean. Top level domain has no subdirectories or subdomains, for example - www.abc123.com

    hi three3s you can use a few various methods to cloaking. You can use the most common www.tinyurl.com alot of affiliate use it. Or try google for software called affiliate cloaker, basically free software that encrypts your affiliate link.

    Another way that I use myself is through php its pretty simple to do and works the best for me. There is also locatereview which lets you track how many times your affiliate link gets clicked so its great for tracking.

    Using url redirects for cloaking affiliate links is a plus, for more information on cloaking affiliate links click here. You could also use php to redirect your links, or these other tactics.

    --Hope this helps. :)

    Is cloaking the same as 'masking', which is the option in GD's redirect control panel?

    The best way I have found for affiliate link cloaking that seems to work well with me is to use a simple .html redirect

    Just create a .html file in your favorite html editor (notepad will work too)

    Then copy this into your newly created file:

    <html>
    <head>
    <meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow">
    <meta http-equiv='refresh' content='0; url=YOUR AFFILIATE URL (address)'>
    </head>
    </html>

    Save it again and upload it to your web server ---

    Definatly check it to see if it is working properly ---

    Alwasy use the nofollow tag when doing this so that the search engines will not index bogus links

    Hope this helps!!! Ive been using it for ever and never had an issue ---

    If you guys don't want to use the obvious tinyurl one, feel free to use mine in the signature. I make no money from it - I use it for my own projects and thought, well hell, I have plenty of bandwidth to share it.

    I don't understand how sites like tinyurl really cloak your link.....in the end, when the landing page comes up, my clickbank ID is still there.....am I doing something wrong???
