What is backordering ?

I see a few registered names, that says can be backordered, for a price almost double of that of the normal registration price.

What I want to know is that if we backorder s domain name, does that means that we will get it definitely after its expiry date of the current users, or we will only get it , if the current owner does not re registers them ?

In case he re registers them., what will happen to your money? Will that be refunded or what ?

The price that you pay means that you have some interest in the name.
If the name is not dropped by the previous owner you cannot get it.
And also if there's more than one person that is interested in a particular name then it will go to an auction.
The refunds should depend on the particular service you use.

It's basically a moneymaking scheme where hosting companies will let you put money down in hopes that someone will forget to renew a domain name (which basically NEVER happens anyway). As usual, the best strategy if you want a name is to negotiate with the owner.

Backordering means the process of making an advanced payment for that domain to register,in case it may be available in future after its expiration. So that they may try to register that on behalf of you and for this service, they need some advance payment, which is called as backordering

Most of thye time, its very bad to go for backordering before a long time and I do n't prefer the way it works !
    1-There is no guarantee/warranty.
2-Better to watch out the expiration date and check it often for possible chances via drop catchers(of course cost pays...doh) !
exp:For registrars like godaddy having own after market services, its must to backorder with them only.

Luckily,I have some positive experiences and the sweetest thing is,I got some of domains via snap names about which I was thinking in past.;)

A customer order that cannot be filled when presented, and for which the customer is prepared to wait for some time. The percentage of items backordered and the number of backorder days are important meausres of the quality of a company's and the effectiveness of its inventory management.
