If I want to backorder a domain that is pending deletion today, and I end up getting it. Will the creation date for the domain name change, or will it keep its age?
Backordering a domain preserves its registration date, but remember that depending on the name there might be many other bids trying to get it.
Nope, Once it is under pending deletion,it will be deleted and will be available publicly for anyone to register once after the registry releases it. In this situation, backordering services/drop catchers try their best to get these domains using their high speed technology and charge the costumers as per demand. Hence, after re-registration followed by pending deletion,it can n’t keep it’s previous registration date/age. But many registrars like register.com/netsol…etc put the expired domains in auctions before pending deletion, and if someone win any such domain, then it may get the domain age privileges.
I must disagee with your post. Picking up a dropped domain on a back-order basis does not preserve the age. Buying one at a expired domain auction like the one Godaddy runs does preserve the orginial reg date. I have done it both ways and I am positive this is the correct answer.
