Are there still meta editors at DMOZ

What is the deal with DMOZ, is there anyone home. I was an editor of a small category, with my finger on the pulse in that category. I logged in a few times made a few changes, then the sub editor changed what I did a couple of times sometimes without reason other times with reason.

Then one day I went to login when i found a good site, with original content to add and boom, I cant login saying it has been 90 days and I need to reapply to become another editor.

That was six months ago and to this date no one has even emailed me with a response. If there are any meta editors in this forum someone should be able to help. My friend was editor for a large category and it has been two years since he has been trying to get in and nothing to date.

Is there any one home at DMOZ?

Help a guy out here - and please no boiler plate responses - 'we will get back to you - can some one effectively comment on this.

    Hello caks :)

It sounds like you might not yet have asked for reinstatement, so to quote from the ODP guidelines:
You would have seen it when you tried to log in, but here is the link to the reinstatement form again. :)

First if the CAT is so tiny and only websites that don't carry duplicate content would not be added. So it is quite possible that no updates need to be made within 4 months. That being said who can I email to take a real good look on this as I am one of the few webmasters in my country and an expert in that category.

I know I have something more to add and i have sent in at least 2 reinstatement requests.

makrhod gave you the correct advice on requesting reinstatement, if you have requested reinstatement and have not received a response then follow budalata's link and request someone to check on your reinstatement request. Without the proper information (like editor name and time of reinstatement request) no one will be able to give you any more information. The best place to provide that information to the ones who can check is via the link budalata posted above.

There are several options for a volunteer in this position, depending on his level of interest and the time available to spend on this hobby:
    1. Apply for permission to edit in another category of interest.
    2. Offer to join one of the group editing projects which are often available, such as this one.
    3. Ask a more experienced editor for help in finding something to do.
    4. After ensuring that the category is as complete and up to date as possible, with all links working and all titles and descriptions correct, the editor might choose to let his account lapse, and apply for reinstatement when/if he has more time or interest in editing.
All of these options are perfectly acceptable. :)

    hi caks ,
many of us have small categories with little updates . One of the good ways of staying busy ( in volunteer time) is :
adding sites of other categories you can find, to your bookmarks category :)

Darn. I can't believe I forgot to mention Bookmarks, thank you websys! That will teach me to post in a hurry.

Yes, many editors certainly use their Bookmarks to create new categories or gather sites for existing ones. It is a great way of building editing experience before applying to edit in another category, or just contributing without necessarily wanting further responsibility. :)
