Indeed, just dont overuse it, for example, if you bold your whole site, then it wont do any better than just bolding the keywords :p

Yes, bolding the keyword of a webpage has the meaning to emphasize it, and it is very important in SEO sense.

bold text are important but don't bold them all, h1 for titles, bold for sub title, italics for slogans

That's right. Always try to make your site for user friendly as well as search engine friendly. Here is no doubt that Bold & italic in content has some +ve impact for SERP's but don't overuse. Because due to more use of these content looks very bad and users don't like it. So try to use in few palces with mind.........................

Surely using the Bold, strong or Italic in your content will have good impact on your overall on-page seo. But don't overdo them

It does, but to the extent that it really doesn't count. The impact of Bold and Italics are usually easily overshadowed by other factors.

Don't exaggerate with their use. You won't see any major improvement anyway.
Google gives more and more importance to offpage optimization nowadays.
Everybody can bold a keyword, not everyone could get quality links.
