How to translate PR into visitors?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by unibul, May 27, 2008.

I launched a website in the second half of January and a couple of weeks ago it had gained Google PR 4. Unfortunately, my visitors have not increased. I realize that there are many other factors involved in attracting new visitors but I would like to pose the question how to take advantage of an increased Google PR. I will not post the URL because I'm not sure if it will run against the rules so just share your own experience.

PR cannot be converted into visitors like how to do USD to GBP. Although it helps you to rank, but it doesn't mean your work towards your site is accomplished and you don't have to do anything. To take advantages of it, shoot some keywords based on your niche ;).

Yeah they are pretty much unrelated. The only way you could actually convert PR to visitors would be to use that PR to sell text links, then use the money to buy traffic using Adwords! I wouldn't recommend doing that though.

Yes PR is one of many factors that Google takes into consideration while calculating your SERP position... so one could say that higher PR = better ranking = more visitors and so on...

But imho the impact isn't that great. Content is the most important SEO factor and I would be concentrating on it. It is better to gain good position in SERPs slowly but naturally - that way it will be more consistent and future-proof and you won't be experiencing so many ranking fluctuations as other webmasters (those that try to get to the top as fast as possible without thinking about long-term consequences).

PR alone isn't going to jack for your you. To get more traffic you have to have a combo of Pr, backlinks, quality content, good navigation and page directory structure, etc.

having good PR will only help if you have everything else in place as well.

Make sure the links back to your site contain some variations of the keywords you have in your content. That will help boost your position in the SERPs.

PR and traffic and not related to one another. What you can do is to sell limited and related link(s) from your PR4 blog and use the money wisely to promote the blog in order to increase the traffic. Traffic is the key and real source of $$$$ !!

PR has no connection to visitors. If you want to increase the number of your visitors, then try to get more backlinks.

Sounds like you have some decent links in, now just use some good anchor text links to boost your SERPs.

I guess this just goes to show that focusing on PR isn't really worth focusing on.

Try chasing relavant links instead - I'd take relevancy over Pagerank any day.
