If you have a college degree, do you use it? Or have you gone in a totally different direction? Myself, I have 2 degrees, and still don't have a clue what I'm doing.
I did not manage to finish so I do not have a college degree. I was in Arts and stdied a little of everything, including philosophy, history, fine arts, religion, plus the normal mix of literature and psychology courses. Instead, I spent most of my life as a commodity market analyst even though I never took a single economics or commerce course. However, my ecletic studies were very helpful because they gave me a better insight into the way people think. I found that was a key advantage in negotiatioons when I went through my export grain trading career and in journalism, when I went through my journalism career. When I went to university, the newspapers were full of stories about people who got doctorates and drove cab or otherwise could not work in their field of study. That will never change. Unless you go to a professional faculty, you may never work in your field of study. I always thought the point of university was to learn abnout as many different things as possible and to hone your thinking skills. Watching my sons, I also see that unversisyt, if you choose to take full advantage of the opportunity, is a terruific place to learn about other people, cultures, countries, and develop a life long network of friends in a wide range of pursuits. The worst mistake I ever made was not finishing. I will never make enough money to make up for that loss.
I decided to leave school at 17 and work towards becoming an accountant by working for a firm with day release to study for the professional exams, until I found out how much I was earning vs how much I was being charged out at. I left, aged 19 and have been self-employed ever since, with 1 miserable failure of a venture and one very successful in the first 3 years I was glad to find and embrace the internet around 6 years ago and find my niche.
I have a college degree (B.A.) and a law degree (J.D.) and yes do use them both as I am currently working for a huge financial corporation........ But am working my butt off to pursue Internet Marketing full time. I find IM to be a lot more fulfilling for me.
always thought thats what parents were for..guess you can never have enough keeping out of jailness..
I have a degree...but I don't use it. I probably would have been better off spending the $100,000 on something else. Actually I did lear a lot in school and I'm glad I went.
