Google Virus

I never download anything, so I'm not sure how this virus got onto my computer ---

I go to Google.... and say I type in "New York" .... and "New York Times" comes up #1

When I click NY Times, it will redirect me to an ebay search fo NY Times, or some other crap website

I have to click back, click on the link again --- then again it will send me to Amazon.com or some other site

Then usually the 3rd time I will go to the right site

Any idea on how to get rid of this? Should I re-download IE?

    Thanks!

    Run a virus/spyware scan.

Open add/remove programs, and see if you find anything like some toolbar etc, remove it if you find any.

If you still have the problem, then I guess re-installing IE will solve this problem.

I would suggest you to browse the web with Mozilla Firefox. It's much safer than Internet Explorer.
It's free and you can download it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Not to mention the great SEO extensions for Firefox :)

It sound like your search settings were hijacked probably as a result of a hidden spyware or malware on your computer after installing new software or visiting any other website by means of an ActiveX control downloading in the background.

Try a solution like this www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor

    And disable all activeX.
Use SpyWareBlaster to load restricted sites and toolbars.
