Cricket is more popular.... Now a days IPL etc. are booming in India, lot of interesting matches are going on .. Of course cricket is more popular.
Cricket is widespread throughout the commonwealth, whereas baseball is only really played in the States
There's probably more money in baseball, but with 1 billion people in india, there's no doubt that it's more popular on a world scale.
Cricket has a huge Fan base in all the countries , mainly the Subcontinent where Cricket is a religion but Baseball has a huge fan following in States and does have huge amount of money involved.
I wouldn't be so confident about a 'huge fan base in all the countries', every single one of my American friends and Polish relatives haven't even heard of it.
Cricket is more popular in South East Asia So every 6th person in the world may know something about cricket!( India has one billion population out of world's six billion)
With T20 coming into the picture, if not now, Cricket should soon become an Olympic Sport. Now that should popularise it further.
Baseball. baseball is known, I mean every person knows it. Unless Cricket which is getting more popular these days with all those domestic leagues,I think in short time, cricket will be world famous and more money to it than baseball.
If TwentyTwenty kicks off, There's a chance. I wouldn't count on Tests or even ODI's becoming 'world famous' popular anytime soon
In England baseballs a joke in most ppl's eyes...When B.Bonds broke the home run record Channel 4 newscaster KG murphy used derisory language...'americas obssession with baseball'!!As if it was something that you can't just like...you have to be obssessedwith it...anyway, that's his unproffesionalism, not my problem. I liken baseball to pop music compared to cricket to classical music...the former are relatively shallow and gaudy and the latter long-winded and pompous!! I much prefer baseball and mean shallow and gaudy as a compliment, even though it might not seem very complimentary! As for which is the most popular...world wide it's probably a close run thing. Neither are very popular, relatively speaking, in most of Europe or China and if you balance Pakistan and India for crickets off with The Americas for baseball that leaves England and Australiasia for cricket against Japan and Korea for baseball...
