Checking Backlinks on Google

I keep hearing that Google is no good for checking backlinks --- and Yahoo is the best ---- is that true??

How do I search for backlinks on Google?

In google it is link:www.site.com
But note that Google shows only a part of the backlinks.
The best is to check in the Google Webmaster tool or on Yahoo.

 

You can use Google Webmaster Tools to check the backlinks too

You use webmaster tools to check backlinks.

You can also use the link: operator to check links in google but it will only show few of the backlinks.

In yahoo, I suggest you use yahoo site explorer

For sure, it's the only way that is a little bit accurate to check the backlinks in Google... Go for a Google Webmaster Tools account and verify your website.

 

Yahoo site explorer is much better, than google webmaster tools for checking links. Google Webmasters tools shows more of your links than Google's link: command but it still does not show an accurate amount.

 

Don note that Yahoo's site explorer show nofollow links as well . I checked with link:mysite on google and it didn't show some dofollow links as well .

You can also use link: command on yahoo search to display linking sites.

use the webmaster tools on google, its a pretty good guide to the links you have.

 

Additionally, you can use site:<fill in the url without the brackets> on yahoo.
