Blog or Forum?

Hello, I cannot decide between a Blog or a Forum. My main goal is to make enough money that I don't have to work over the summer. I need about 500$ and I can live for the summer so its not to bad.

I will deal with marketing, but not sure what would work best for me.

http://PostPerfection.com is my website. Not really sure why I chose that name though haha :p

Anyway if anyone could give me some tips or tell me how I am doing this all wrong :) that would be greatly appreciated.

Blog would be a better option if the idea is to make money. You'd find numerous ways to monetize your blog.

Blog would be your best bet. If I were you, I would not do any of them. For making that 500$ you can do directory submissions, classified ad postings, forum posts etc etc and on the side you can have a blog. Forum takes lot of time and investment to get it making some money.

Considering your age and possible experience in SEO/website
development I have to agree with webcosmo on this.
Although a forum site would hold greater virtual equity in
the long run a blog site would be a great starter for you.
You should be able to learn how to monetize it and practice
necessary skills needed if you want to develop a forum site (like forums.digitalpoint.com) in the future.

I would say go for both. Make a blog for now, but start building a forum on the side and get it live ASAP along with the blog. If you can run both (would be better if they each had their own domain), you could try to market both and see if that does anything.

If you have your own articles best is post on your blog first, then wait until it gets picked by search engines. Then you can post on forums.

I think blogs earn more. But established forums does make big money.

Young is not the problem actually :p, it's experience which matters. Some under 18 webmasters looked more professional and excel in SEO and marketing and they seemed better than some old ginger :D

By the way, Blog is easy-to-manage and is more straightforward. For forum you're targeting for more indexed page and traffic.

Seem some one got the calculation skills.
Listen to this guy, and instead of expecting anything from a new blog or forum try freelancing any service, you can provide.
DP can be great place to start with.

My suggestion is focus to Blog, and try to drive many people to come to your blog and try to make them like to your blog, then you could start to make a forum if needed.
