Thinking of importing posts to my forum...

I was thinking of importing posts to my new forum using this service: http://www.instadigi.com/ problem is, im worried about getting penalties from google for having duplicate content (since the service uses yahoo answers and usenet forum posts to duplicate).

has anyone had any experience with this, or suggestions?

I did it the hard way and just signed up multiple times, asked questions, and answered them myself (granted this was back in 1999). I'd do that. It's free, and you won't get hit with any penalties.

id also suggest writing to your list (if you have one)
let them know you're running a contest for person that
subscribes the most new users or creates the most number of
    posts.

I recently won the web-mastertalk contest here.
They found a sponsor to provide the gift but you
could easily find a valuable gift to give away.

Then set up points like 50 points for new subscribers
5 points per (valuable post) etc.

Something like that could really grow your forum quickly
and then im sure you're wondering how you can get the word out.

I'd contact blog owners or other webmasters and let them
know that you'll give them so much free advertising for sharing
the word on your report. (remember you'll want to do something
valuable for them before you ask them to do something for you)

    Best of luck

If you have friends get them in. You can take some partners as well. That way talks won't be much boring doing it yourself.

It takes time as well. Start posting on other forums, people will join you over the time.

Don't do it, you'll get penalized by Google and you could be sued for stealing content, just hire posters and offer revenue sharing to attract posters.
