    Hi all,

Everyone is after some easy ways to increase the traffic to his website. Because your online business is directly dependant on your website traffic. If you 100 people are visiting your website then usually 1-2 of them will be your customers or will do some purchase.

To increase your website traffic a great place is "Yahoo Answers": ( http://answers.yahoo.com/ )

Here are some tips how to use this place to advertise your website:

    1) Join. Its free. If you have a yahoo account, you just need to login.
    2) First of all choose the category or categories which best suit your website theme.
    3) In start just read the questions and answers asked and answered by other members.
    4) Especially look at the best answers.
    5) Start answering the latest questions asked by community of your category.
    6) Give the brief and complete answers.
    7) There is a resources box which you can see while answering. Post the link of your website in this box.
    8) If you dont know some answer then simple google and you will find the instant information.
    9) Reply at least 20 questions daily.

If you follow all these things, after one month, you will have::

    a) 600 backlinks to your website.
    b) Extra daily clicks to your website. If your answers are normal then expect 5-10 visits per day. If you are giving great info to community, you can expect, like 20-30 or more from this website.
    c) This will increase your revenue.
    d) For every answer you will get 2 points on yahoo answers.
    e) If your answer is awarded the "best answer" award, you will get 10 points.
    f) Depending on your points, your quota of answering questions is increased.

I have my website http://www.cleararticles.com/. This site is receiving a good portion of traffic from yahoo answers.

I hope you will find this article valuable. If yes, please give your votes, comments and suggestions.

    Thanks,
    http://www.cleararticles.com

    Excellent post.

This is one the things that I do on a daily basis, and it works like a charm.

Getting that "best answer" is extremely important. You can still get traffic without it, but I noticed more traffic when I get voted as the best answer.

all your points are good one but point a) is not correct because all your links in yahoo answer are 'NO FOLLOW' so don't expect that google would increase backlinks..

I also do this method on a daily basis.

The backlinks are indeed nofollow, but traffic is the reason I do it. 15% of my traffic is currently coming from Yahoo Answers, which I consider to be a lot.

I have now had about 9 best answers too after the few weeks of answering, though my niche really is a niche and its hard to find questions to answer.

I always answer each question differently, compliment the asker and list a few options they have. I then say something along the lines of 'There is a lot more help at this website: hxxp://www.yourdomain.com which I found useful when answering your question'

If you are adding to the community and giving good answers then I can't see that its a problem.

What I believe they would object to is just answering a question with your domain, or with irrelevant copy and pasted nonsense. This would be pointless anyway as it would not encourage anybody to click.

The other thing that is important is the domain name. You can not place an anchor title, so a domain name is also vital for encouraging clicks. Luckily for me i picked 2 of the best keywords for my domain name I could :D

Yes i know that links from the yahoo answers are "nofollow" links. But still they are back links. These will not increase your PR but will give you constant and quality traffic....

    Thanks,

    1) Please remember that yahoo answers give you back links with "no follow" tag that can give you the traffic but will not increase your PR.

    2) Always Putting your website in the resources box is possible and relevant if you are hitting the community and category of your website.

    3) What i do is that i always answer the questions in the category of SEO, and as my website is about SEO articles, so putting my website link in resources box is always relevant and effective.

    4) I often do a thing which really gives me hits. Most of the times my website articles are the answers of many SEO questions. What i do is that i paste the half or so article there and then write like "for full article please follow this link:" and then the link of my website page. and in resources box, my website home page:)

In conclusion, we can say that just using some common sense and hitting the right category and community, you can easily promote your website using yahoo answers.

    Thanks,

I still get visits to my blog several weeks of absence from Yahoo Answers, but not sure of the type/character/, etc of the visitors; I mean judging from some of the sub standard spelling, and slang questions that I answered in the computer/internet section. I find it more enjoyable and challenging in more technical forums ( e.g. computer hope, PC World NZ, slashdot, etc), though generally received less visitors...

Actually yahoo answers has very broad exposure as compared to forums/blogs etc. A very large amount of people all around the world are visiting the yahoo answers every day. This is the top most reason of getting good traffic from this forum.

Other reason is that there are many many websites that are just scrapping the yahoo questions and answers on their websites by using the automated tools. This is anther reason of increased exposure of your answers to the community.

Those 600 backlinks are nofollow and so unless your website is HIGHLY relevant to the material in the question then you won't be seeing many uniques at all.

You can't just stop after a month either. If you want continuous UVs you're going to have to spend a lot of time answering questions and a lot of people don't have that time.

Actually, I do agree with clearwriter and have been doing this technique. If you want to increase PR, then yahoo answers is not for you. And as what clearwriter said, it is good for TRAFFIC, and as what anyone knows, traffic=revenue.

    Thanks for sharing your info.

If it is NO FOLLOW does this mean it can't help your rankings?

People say NO FOLLOW doesn't effect PR and I understand this.. but quite frankly I dont care about PR too much,

I just want it to boost up my rankings. Will it help at all?

I don't think NO FOLLOW links will do anything for your ranking: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofollow
