I am not sure about this one DownUnder... I have a similar tendency when dealing with sites with crappy audio in that I am gone and don't look back. But if the mod were used correctly and the audio files were well managed (e.g. crap wasn't allowed through) then it may have a market. It would be a good addition to music niche directories. I am just not sure how many of my submitters would potentially have such an audio file for a general or business directory.
This is sad what we can find here. I thought all stupid wars already finished as there is nothing to fight for...
Whatever the mod is or does just please promise me its nothing like those stupid talking characters you see webpronews promoting or on any websites as when i see anything similar im gone! To me those are sooooo outdated and just downright cheesy thx malcolm
The Demonstration site is finally running now, as described it allows submitters to upload there own mp3 site descriptions or additional jingles(ads) as pipes describes. Theres loads of points and ideas I would like to discuss about how this could be used, but not in this thread so my final word is, if anyone would like this converted to another directory script just ask through a PM. The last time I heard music was on a Christian site, and that was about 6 years ago. So outdated the idea has whiskers, besides, I stick my systems on mute so I can sneak online more often so wouldn't hear music anyway.
I took a look at the demo and liked it very much, out of interest I thought I would have a search round and see if I could find the code to work on my own projects. t seems the code and java used in this mod is exactly the same as the website http://voice2page.com, now on reading the website I could not find any information on how to use the script for your own website without creating an account, which costs money, licensing information here. http://www.voice2page.com/info/v2ppage_licensing.html Now is the script 100% free, If you could please verify that this script is not protected via someone else's copyright I will dig further into how it works, I just had alarm bells ring when all I could find was a product which uses exactly the same codes as the demo and you had to pay for it. You are right to question anything done on these forums, however I myself would have contacted the OP first, anyway you are wrong, the files been used are open source and readily available do download. I myself am involved with NetAudioAds and heres the coalition information between netaudioads and voice2page : However all that has nothing to do with the mod and the mod does not work in the same manor as voice2page or the NetAudioAds system. Both those companys are simple using the same files as I or I as them to play audio on their sites, the playing of audio on their sites is just a method used to explain whats written on there webpages. It has nothing to do with their products and services. There are two files involved and you can also see it in action on my site which is where the idea steams from for adding this to directories, the files are not under any copyright from voice2page and are open source*. Like many some think its an ok idea for selected types of directories and then you have prats that leave red reps with LOL messages Anyway the source codes are readily available to steal from either my site or my demo site, I'm charging $7 for the idea which has been put together as a mod for phpld with all the additional(work) file edits required to have a working mp3 upload and how the directory finds and plays the uploads. So if thats not fair ? what can I say, only if it was free and loads downloaded it, it wouldn't be unique. Well then my apologizes, it was not meant to offend, I just thought I was speaking to the same person, ....as James said to me he has received and email about the mod been a licensed voice2page product, anyway its not, not even close.
No Problems at all, Great Mod, as previously mentioned I think I will be using this on one of my projects, unfortunately its not phpld based which is why I went to the lengths of finding out how it works and such. Sorry if I miss lead the thread, that was not my intention. Thanks aubenrey
