Well I don't want to waste lot of time on this, but anyway just felt to inform the people to be little careful while submitting to JoeAnt. I had submitted my health website to them and they had put it in Online Marketing(I am not sure what were they thinking). I also felt the page on which the sites are listed, are of poor quality and are not even cached in Google, so your link will never get counted. So if you are looking to submit to Big Directories to get link juice, than JoeAnt is not the way to Go. I think for $40, better submit to some smaller directories where you can get better link value. Regards
It would help to know the specific site you submitted. Otherwise it is just another claim that is missing part of the foundation.. imo
Well Spider-man gave me hugo's ID (Owner of JoeAnt) and here was his reply I think I caught him on bad hair day. I know I agreed to the terms but really, I submit to 100's of directories (many for my clients) and I don't spend lot of time in reading the terms. You may said I should, but well, you don't make money by reading terms and Conditions They may be good, I don't know, but I know lot of people who submit to directories to get link juice and if you are one of them, than you can avoid them. There are lot of good directories here which are alot cheaper than $40. Regads
Swedal I am not sure if I would like to publicly put the name of the site here (I can PM you if you want). I am absolutely sure I had submitted it in Health Category and don't see any reason of it being put in Online Marketing. I am not saying they are good or bad, its just that, they are not worthy enough of $40 as far as link value is concerned. I don't know if they give traffic or not but I haven't got anything so far. Hugo told me, I have submitted to JoeAnt and Not in Google, so why complaint about page not getting cached. I am not sure I can say the same thing to my client. Something like, "Hi, I have submitted your site to the JoeAnt for $40, Its a Great site, its just that page is not cached and we wont' get any link value or Traffic from it...but Comon, its JoeAnt, so don't worry. Give me 10 sites and $400 more, because you have deep pockets and I have lot of time to spend" probably won't work Anyway I don't want to spend lot of time it. Just felt to tell DP people since I feels it will help people to decide when not to use JoeAnt. Cheers and Best Wishes
Are you angry since you have been listed in Online Marketing or that the category has poor sites, or that its not indexed? Whatever it maybe, JoeAnt's editorial integrity seems to have become worse these days. I just hope that things work out well for you and your listing goes to its appt category. - Thanks for the warning though!
I don't know the specific site submitted, but it does seem strange for a health site to go in a category for online marketing. The two don't even seem related to me. If the site truly is health the first thing I would think is that it was a placement mistake but it it sounds like you have contacted joeant. Seems strange they would not realize this and place it properly... I would not have expected that from joeant. Nice to know though.
Sorry but if you fail to read the terms before you agree to them you can't really have too much to complain about. This is one of the reasons a lot of forum members a few months back were all pushing other directory owners to get their terms in order. If the site is listed in a completely inappropriate category, then find one better and politely email them to ask if it can be changed and explain. In 90% of cases most owners would be prepared to do this.
I just submitted a site to JoeAnt and had no problems. They rejected me at first for being in the wrong categroy. I then placed it in the right one and was told to modify my description. I did that and it was then approved. But, the page where my link lives is not indexed by google. It is indexed by Yahoo.
I only will reply ones to this thread. Just because someone is using 'private messages' in public. First. I'm not the owner. Second. I hadn't anything to do with his submission. Third. His site is MedsAvailable. And this is taken from the main page: Sound a lot like Online Marketing to me. Oh yeah: and fourth: I'm not some eastern european chic, as you wanted me to be. Hugo
Well Hugo, NO, you are wrong. If as a owner i had submitted to health, than obviously I must be knowing more about my site than the editors(who certainly don't seems to spend lot of time looking at the site, which is reasonable since no one in the world has the time and I don't think editors get paid for there job). Just look at the site, and you will see its a health article website. Promotion was supposed to be meant rss syndication here. Kind of funny you said, you won't reply here and than, there you are... Well Now I am pretty convinced you are NOT an eastern european chic Anyway the main issue here is, JoeAnt is not good for link value. Case Closed. So all those DP Link droppers who don't know there business, (quoting Hugo again from PM), please save your $40 and first ask him to teach you the "Business". Sorry mate, had to write this. I don't want to get personal but your replies just don't make any sense. This world will be a lot better place to live, if we all starts admitting when wrong is wrong and right is right.
From Poseidon's experience, I'd say it's better that you don't have your site listed - whoever wrote the reply to Poseidon is obviously an arrogant twat. End of story.
Stoner, you see, there is ALOT in the site than just the 1 line but alas, if you start picking things than well, I am pretty sure, there is some mortgage and insurance related sentence as well in the site Now I have Spidey with me Yay Peter.... ANyway jokes apart, guys, I had just started this thread to tell people that JoeAnt may not be that good as you think they are as far as link value is concerned, So be careful. I have Nothing against anyone. and I am pretty sure, they have Great editors
To me it sounds like everyone seems to be having some kind of bad day. If everyone involved would just take a step back to think about how this happened and played out, I bet a good solution could be found that everyone feels better about.
Yep, the customer is always right, ( even if they are wrong ), re allocated the submitted catagory if appropriate or refund the $ and delist with an apology. going to war with a customer is not worth the hassle. For me when these things happen, they are seen as a positive always, as the customer soon learns that we will go out of our way to correct any wrongs, value add and ensure 100% satisfaction, even if it costs me time and or money. It is one of the best marketing ploys i have ever done. I would rather a few dozen people saying ABC got it wrong, but when i mentioned it they sorted it straight away without fuss, than one of these posts. If done right you wll have a customer and walking talking promoter of your service for life. Every business can make mistakes and does, its the ones who correct them that will stand out.
I can't see why the link id can't be moved to the right category for the client. I mean..PLEAAASSEE!!! That's just slack! Is it a PHPLD directory? The solution is SIMPLE!
Think out of box man, every directory is not phpld. And whatever script it maybe, moving a listing is always easy!
Hi all I had a look at the site, and I'd say 3 things 1, It looks like a decent site and good to see it was accepted by a quality directory, of which there is none better than joeant 2, I think Its is clearly a marketing site, perhaps health marketing, but marketing just the same, nice site too 3, A directories editorial policy is solely a matter for that directory's editorial staff to determine.
Right or wrong category aside, what I find interesting is the whole "so what the page's not cached in Google" concept.
