If a webmaster's goal is to create backlinks to 1000 unique URLS (from the same domain) on social/bookmarking sites (“do follow†backlinks of course), and he has a choice between 2 basic strategies for doing this, which strategy do you think is best? #1. Create 1 account on each bookmarking sight of interest and slowly add the 1000 bookmarks also mixing in some bookmarks from other domains; or #2. Create multiple accounts for each bookmarking sight and divide up the 1000 URLs to bookmark among these accounts, also going slowly. The answer may be much different from what you would expect. I'll tell you what I've learned and I will also tally the results in a few days and provide the logical conclusion(s). K
I don't have enough experience with this to be able to vote, but would very much like to find out what you have learned. Also, can you please recommend the best social bookmarking sites to use for this purpose, based on your experiences. Thank you
Well, I'd think you are much better with multiple users, though it would really depend on the site structure. If each user is a subdomain, the links would seem more unique, although inner pages would be likelier to have PR. I can say this...1000 backlinks from the same site is no big shakes. I have a favorite site I use that gives me obscene amounts of backlinks, by posting to groups, and it adds up to not a whole lot as far as link juice, even though up to 1000 tag pages will show in webmasters tools.
Um, most social bookmarking sites are nofollow. It's pointless to spam them with a thousand links anyway, you'd be better off creating content for each social bookmarking site and submitting them one at a time under one account, this way you can create a legitimate community of friends, instead of a thousand accounts that have no friends, popularity or PR.
I've found article submission more lucrative then social bookmarking, that is for topics which don't get digged/voted/sphined a lot, thus they don't bring many natural backlinks. However on important keywords I do both along with rss submission + directory submission with deep linking enabled.
i have to say johnSON i love the cat pic . my suggestion on the backlink thing is that you would be better off with the multiple accounts approach for sure
There are barely even two dozen good social bookmarking networks. http://www.addthis.com/bookmark.php
Interesting answers so far. Remember that the purpose of the backlinks, in this case, is to help 1000 landing pages to have backlinks. To have a specific subpage rank, it's not merely the amount of backlinks you have to your main domain, you need to have backlinks to the subpage. Do follow social media sights are available at PR6 to PR1 and they are a useful way to get subpages to rank.
My approach has been simple. I use del.icio.us (nofollow) as my "master" social bookmarking site. Then over the course of a couple of months I've signed onto maybe two dozen additional SB sites, most of them dofollow. The majority of them have a tool allowing a total import in one shot of all my pages from del.icio.us. That's about 140 pages, almost all of them deep links.
