    Hey guys

DO directory listings mean virtually nothing?

I agree they cannot be that valuable since the sites PR is divided into the many sites that are listed.

However, I am in a rather small niche and I've been able to rank #1-5 on many terms by using direcotry submissions.

I have over 1000 inbound links to my site, and I rank well, but I'd like to rank higher for certain longer tailed phrases.

What is the best way to do this?

Is it USELESS to do directory submissions? What are my other options? Is BUYING LINKS really that bad of a deal?

First of all, I should change the content and make specific long tail targeted pages, correct? Then create inbound links to them?

What really ARE my other options for link building?

some directories still have weight. i suggest you submit to directories that counts, and most of them are paid. start with yahoo directory. then search for directories catering to your niche.

    Ok
SO is a paid directory much different than "buying links"?

What is the best way to find a niche related paid directory?

    Thanks guys.

    Google "Your Niche Directory"

They offer varying values, it really depends on the directory. Typically the free directories offer absolutely nothing in terms of traffic or SERP benefit, however it can be worth submitting to a handful of the quality paid ones.
