digg "made popular"?

When a digg story is put on the front page, it's done so because it has been "made popular". What does "made popular" mean? Is that like...x amount of diggs done within a minute? Does that mean x amount of diggs in existence?

Depend. Another thing that you may consider is "be-friend" with those powerfull account holders.

I think if you get 40 diggs in an hour you get on the front page.

there is no fixed amount of diggs it depends who diggs it and a very complex algorithm.

It is just shame that the traffic from Digg is only temporary and not sustained for any long periods ;(

I have added about 800 friends in the last couple of weeks. I send shouts to all who recieve them and notice out of the 800 only about 100 shouts go out. Is there a better way to ask for diggs and is it good or useless to have so many friends?

Digg traffic is useless if you want to sell products. I use social bookmarking sites only for additional links, sometimes for adsense.

no you get others to digg within the period of 1 day from the first digg (usually 60-70 diggs within day of first digg)
    make sense?
