Here goes my post about SitePoint Marketplace. Even though the title might have made a connection to “SitePoint is bad†- it’s actually going to point only to those that sell on SitePoint thinking like presented in the blog post. It's an excelent guideline if you are planning to sell a website on SitePoint soon. Sharing with you guys, throw some feedback. http://digg.com/tech_news/SitePoint_Marketplace_Are_you_stupid_Then_waste_money
I think his point was to prove how people post multiple sites in one sale thread to save money and how it "decreases their chance of sale".
Posting your site at many sites for sale doesn't decrease your chances to make a sale it would increase your chances. Lesson number one, don't post at site point it's a waste of money! Lesson number two, The more promotion the better the chance you have to sell anything! I don't think he's English... which is cool but it's hard to get the point from the blog!
I don't know...I've sold MANY sites on Sitepoint, and made quite a bit of money from there. Actually, probably about 80% (or more) of sales come from selling sites there...so I guess I'll have to politely disagree. Good post though.
No, SitePoint is the #1 place to sell sites in my opinion, but don't sell in-bulk. Generally if you are looking to sell 10 sites, have 10 differite posts over there, even though it costs way more, it will generate more buzz.
SP marketplace is the best shoot for unique and high traffic sites. One of my partner sell a seo blog ( few months old ) @ around 6k and another friend of mine sell a unique site ( unique design, unique script, unique business model ) @ 9.5k. Sell in bulk is a really bad idea. Most of the potential buyers are searching for unique concept, not turnkey. Just my 2 cents.
Yet -_- it all matters exactly what u mean buy bulk. if someone is selling a network of sites, its better they sell together in one. Yet.. if they are just putting it together as one just so they dont have to pay for more fees sounds pretty low.
DigitalPoint is for selling small sites. SitePoint is for selling big sites. I've never had any problem selling a site fast and for higher prices than on here.
You've got several conflicting opinions together, creating a mass of confusion. In the past 4 months, I've sold 6 of the 6 networks I've posted at SitePoint for BINs or Reserves. So to whichever poster spoke of it being a waste, it's not. If you're planning to make $2500 from the sale, it's a good idea to invest the initial $50 because it will near guarantee to sell, if not create mass interest. As for your post, I disagree and agree. I do sell networks on Sitepoint, successfully, but it is hard to sell a few networks at once in one posting. So that's a yes and no.
There's advantages and disadvantages. Now if you put a site for sale on DP which is free, then you may get difference audiences looking to buy your site compared to Sitepoint. How I see it, if you are willing to pay to list your site on SP, then the people seeing your listing are most likely to think there must be more value in your site for willing to pay to get it listed. I know if my site were not worth much or was knocked up in a few weeks, then I wouldn't really want to list it on a place where I would have to pay just incase I don't sell it. But if I know there is value in my site and it's worth a good bit, then I would actually possibly pay for a listing on a place that would get a better audience. Not sure if what I have said exactly makes much sense, but hope you get what I mean. lol.
IMO I think sitepoint is a good place to sell established sites that have traffic and income, but maybe not so good for turnkey sites/new sites
