Please help me improve my Rankings!

I just started a new website about 2 months ago. It's my first website so I don't know much about SEO. I'd like if you could take a look at it and tell me if you find something obvious that would need to be fixed to help improve my rankings or if you have any suggestion.

If anyone would accept to help me improve my ranking and teach me some things about that I would really appreciate it! But I don't ask that much... For now I'd really appreciate if you could take a look and give me your opinion.

So here's my website: Free Online Games

    Thanks for your help!
    Vincent

basically what you need is backlinks to your site and thousands of them or less if those links have high pr especially if your trying to rank high for "free online games"

See alot of people here will tell you pagerank doesnt help getting listed higher, id say there wrong... you probably wont ever get a right answer so the best thing to do is get both, lots of backlinks and then some more with high page rank.

if you search google for free online games you will see that everyone in the first few pages has high pagerank

You have got the suggestion of off-page optimization. The link from the theme based website will be helpful for your website. Also on-page optimization is very important. Target the page with relevant keyword. The relevant keyword should be in your heading tag. Also check the keyword density, it should be 3-5% maximum. And overall the content is the king, so no duplicate content. Use always fresh content and regularly update your website.

Any suggestion for a tool to calculate keyword density. Also, when your talking about no duplicate content, are you saying that my content should be different from other websites or is it that it shouldnt repeat itself into my website? For example, I wrote a description for each game. Is it OK to put that description into the description meta tag and also show it on the page so the visitors will see it or will it be seen as duplicate content? Thanks for your help!

See backlinks are very important aspect of SERP but you must not ignore keyword research. You are targeting very high competitive keyword.Do one thing, Target couple long tail keyword which will bring instant traffic then try to achieve ranking on competitive keywords.

Exchange link with relevant resources, submit site in most suitable category in directories, create a article and submit it to article directories, use it in signature at forums, do social bookmarking because they are very helpful and generates direct traffic on websites.

On-Page optimization is also very important for frequent indexing by Google bot.

That was one of my concerns. Lets say I decide to use long tail keywords and that over a year my PR gets higher and I now rank in the top 10 for those less competitive keywords. If one day I decide to target again those high competitive keywords wont I be penalised? I mean when someone gets a high PR can he try to change his keywords all the time to see if he'll get ranked higher on some of them?

    Thanks!

Good question!!! I'd like to know too. It took me about 3 months to get to a PR2 (only about 800 backlinks) and now i'm getting about 30 people a day from google search. I need to get this to skyrocket.

If you're trying to rank on the first page for the term 'free online games' that's going to take quite some time and a lot of backlinks.

Here's what I recommend you do. As someone stated above, start up a link exchange. However, don't just create a page on your site with the title 'Links' and start filling it up with every link you can get. Instead, add another section to your homepage, either on the side or above the footer entitled 'Recommended Sites' or 'Resources' or something of that nature. Then, find other top sites in your niche (Google is your friend), weed out the sites with the best PR and on-page optimization, and request a link only with them. The key is to add to this slowly, do not try to get 20 links in one day. You should obtain like 10-20 link exchanges within 2 months, and even that is still aggressive.

Secondly, you'll need to do some clever link building. Here's a tip that will help bring in backlinks with minimal work required on your part: For each of the games you have on your site, have an option for users to add the game to their own website. Give them the code to do so, however, make sure this code includes a link back to your site with the anchor, 'free online games'. The anchor is key! If you get a decent amount of traffic and people start using this feature, you will be getting free, one-way backlinks. Pretty neat eh? :D

You're going to hate me for this, but your site is FAR from being optimized. It doesn't even work properly in many browsers either. I could rattle off machine-gun style how many problems your site has, but there's only so much I can do for free. You might be better off paying for a one-time SEO analysis of your site if you are really interested in improving your rankings. If you choose to go down that route and don't want to pay an arm and a leg for the analysis, ask ssandecki via PM or check his thread in the services section of the forum. He's currently offering $40 search engine optimization reports which from what I've heard are fairly comprehensive.
