I've heard rumours that one of the most popular antivirus program, AVG, is going to stop offering free license to home users within the next 2 months.

    How true is this?

They only just released V8...including V8 Free version...I can't see them stopping it just after releasing a new version.

    But who knows...

That's what I heard about their latest release as well... The thing is, it wasn't stately clearly if the company is really shutting down free versions. Hmm... a thought to ponder, whether to stick with AVG or move to another free version AV.

There's always rumours of AVG stopping their free service.

AVG will continue to remain free - don't worry about it.

AVG uses the free version of they're program to say "Hey, you like this feature, but if you upgrade to Pro, you get these features too!"

I really do not think so I just upgraded to AVG 8 free. The updates and everything are still running normally.

Thanks.... but this thread is about AVG. Nonetheless, thanks for the link - seems like there are other alternatives if AVG is really going to clam down on free editions.
