Will submitting my site to free directories decrease my site's PR?

I'm new here, someone who wishes to learn and never stops learning.

My question is: Will submitting my site to free directories (with PR 0) decrease my site's PR? If it doesn't decrease, will it affect anything negatively?

I have a friend who submitted his site to free directories (I believe this is what we call having backlinks?) and after a while his site's PR dropped and when he stopped submitting, the site's PR went up. Anyone knows what could have caused this?

Submitting to pr 0 it doesn't effect any pr. Google might have not crawled previous backlink thats why ur pr has been dropped.

People use directory submission for getting higher rankings in search engines and for higher pr. So submitting a website to dirs will not lower your pr but may help you to increase your website page rank to some extent

 

the answer is no unless the directory is requesting links from your page. a lot of outgoing link from your site affect your pr unless you have strong backlink

 

I don't think it can effect on your PR infect it will be become your back links. If your are searching a free links from directories then you have to submit your site in that kind of directories B'coz I don't think so any big directory give you free link on PR page it must be paid or reciprocal.

 

Niche specific directories will help you to build Page rank rest is useless..

 

directory submissions is a form of link building (getting 1 way links to your site). some directories that are newly created starts at pr0, they will get a pr after the next google update. just make sure you're doing quality submissions.

 

There are a lot better things you could be doing SEO wise than submitting to directories. Free directories will give you backlinks, that's correct, however the value of these backlinks are near 0; they will usually not help you rank higher by a significant amount especially if the terms you're going for are even moderately competitive.

Spend your time getting quality, *relevant* one-way backlinks.

 

Submitting to 0 PR Directory will not have any bad affect on your site ranking.

Make sure that 0 pr directory,in which your are submitting is crawled by google robots.

 

No submitting to directories can only increase ur PR.
