Hey! How many sites does it take to start making money?

I know it depends on the niche, the traffic, the conversion rate, the quality etc. but If you can't give a general response just say how many sites did you have when you made your first money and how many did you start with.

I'm not sure myself as i'm starting out. But I'll be focussing my efforts on 3 blogsites.
Mainly becuase they are passions of mine and so i figure it should be easier to write about.
I'll then create a whole lot of made for adsense blogs..perhaps..

I make money with no website at all. All I did is promoting my affiliate link using Adwords. As long as you use specific keywords, like Day Job Killer, Butterfly Marketing, and linking to relevant product, is should be no problem.

True you can have no site and just directly link to affiliate programs but I wouldn't recommend it for the long term. It's just a money maker, not a business with assets.

I used to do that and it's not the most stable form of online income.

I would pick a profitable niche and build an email list, that way you can make money forever even if your marketing methods die out one day(all you need is 1 simple squeeze page & an autoresponder).

Definitely start with one site! It's best to focus and develope the content for your first site and then use that to branch out and start additional project. I'd say to start small and then grow because search engine optimization takes time to get results and content is difficult to build. Once one site is established, you can use your traffic to branch out and drive leads to newer niche sites that complement the origional.

You should always concentrate on having your own site. It will build up value over time and actually be worth something instead of having just an affiliate link work for you because you won't be able to sell the affiliate link. Make the sales with the website + website = more CASH

Sorry, that word really bothers me. :)

I have been making good money from just one site, but have now started to incorporate others.

I have one site...I make around 8 grand a month with it.
It's not easy but I find concentrating all your energy into one great site is far easier and less stressfull than trying to micromanage 10 sites!

It is tough to make a full time living with one affiliate product and one website promoting it. I personally make money several different ways online and with multiple websites and blogs and that seems to work for me.

    Good question,

Though I think a better question would be "How do you make your money online" - because realistically your question is not universal, in fact it's quite the opposite. I think the first thing one should do is learn how to monetize and various ways one can do so with OR without a site.

Your first step in this game should truly be to learn about marketing. If you aim to build a huge site and put adsense in it - << Good luck with that! If you start a review site with high payouts on aff programs << getting better. If you launch your own product and get affiliates to sell for you << Even better. If you launch a product line and get to 5 products and thousands of affiliates << You're loaded. If you start a membership site for $x/month and get xxxx members << residual blessings! OR You can simply find 2-3 aff offers and PPC with big money tycoons as your partners and simply flip money every day all day without a site at all! OR you can upsell on the phone from leads and make $xxxx per conversion....

If you start a blog and it goes huge for certain keywords << Easy to monetize. If you stick to one site, a few aff offers, you will probably fade fast. If you start by simply learning how to convert good offers through bum marketing or ppc, I think you'd be best off launching a site only then. Do really good research and leave little to no room for error in your master plan. Coming into this game blindly will sink your ship quick - whatever idea(s) you have, have probably been done xxx times already - if you come - come correct and both ready to succeed or ready to fail and perform defeat analysis on yourself.

It's almost good to screw up a few times first, your failures will equate to the best learning curve one can have. The posts above are all correct, you don't need a site. You don't need hosting, you don't really need much more than marketing know how and perhaps a few domain names to mask your aff links... Here is a quick video I made on aff networks explaining a few quick ways to monetize your time first before you dive into huge projects and expenses. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=0kF5Czvc2Gc

Whatever you do, don't sell yourself short and take advice from anyone you can - but also focus on a few success stories and listen to them, follow them, support them and even contact them to see if they can help you one on one.

The best advice I've ever recieved:

Build a site that makes 1 dollar or more a day. Repeat that exact process in different niches 100 times = 36k a year.

    you get the point
