i work in video production, and also sites on the side. i had some unused instructional video that were not bought and that i own the rights to. I have many of these, so i want to create a nice cookie cutter method of making these into sites. this site is not yet complete, some pages are just placeholders for future content, but the VIDEO is up, which is great. the site is: www.videodiabetes.com can you comment on: -the overall site? -YPN ad placement - about current placement, where else i should place ads. -what text and affiliate links, if any, should go on each video page, or how to best monetize those pages. -current use of clickbank affiliates, which are currently linking the front and article pages to various affiliates. -anything else i should change once i have this site really set the way i like it, i plan to replicate it with tons of other niche video i have.
Be interested to check out the completed site. As it is now it has good potential, but there is too much negative space imo. also the ad placement in the sidebar may look better if it is aligned with the left border or alternatively white bg. throw it up for review again when you have more graphics etc and will be able to give you a better review on design elements. good luck!
Probably that your header is blank, and the site doesn't have many graphics to it. There is a ton of white space that looks like you can't do anything about, except maybe increase the size of the video and put something near/around the advertisements (assuming you're not allowed to change the size). As The Club Crawler said, the website has potential, but is currently underdeveloped. On a side note, the black-on-white color scheme for the text is efficient, but a bit harsh on the eyes. If there is the possibility of using a pastel background or grey-ish text, do it.
hmm, i'm not too good with colors. can you give me a couple of specific text/background combos that might work well with the other colors on the site?
i tried f7ffaf as the background...take a look....not good i think haha. what else might work well and be less harsh for the text?
The reason it isn't looking good is the white ads...if you're too lazy to change that, just change the background back to white and use #181819. This won't change your header, but it looks fine in black. The glare effect only occurs @ long term reading.
wait, change what to 181819? or change which aspect of the ads to what? i thought i'd blend the ads as much as possible.
I changed some settings on my monitor and it looks like your stuff is okay, for some reason it isn't so white now, but the white on other sites is...whiter. Maybe the outer background causes an illusion or something. I would still say the link in the footer needs to be not-white. The rest is pretty much fine, expanding the video size still recommended
You should consider adding a logo or some type of graphic in the header of the site, and you should add some images.
