    Hi.

Last week there was a Google PR update and all went fine. My site went up from PR2 to PR3 and I just looked and it has PR0 now.

This is very confusing maybe it will come back tomorrow but I never have seen this problem on any other sites I own.

I would like if you could share your experience and ideas about this.

PR update was last month when ranking on couple of my sites changed. didn't know there was a PR update last week also. may be not a global update. not sure why your site lost the ranking tho, hard to tell

Can you give us your site URL so that we can check your site's PR?

How are you checking your site's PR.

Do you sell links or publish sponsored reviews on that site? This could be the reason.

check google webmaster tools to see if google sent you a message about the site. is the page that dropped rank currently in their index?

The site is still indexed by Google and yes we have sold around 25 side wide links this should be the course Google removed the PR. Currently the site is showing around 4000 back links in Yahoo so its really panelized.

I have removed all de side wide links now, do you think I should keep building more links or just wait and see what happen. We have build many links for the site last month and this cannot be the problem I think its the advertising we sell.

The reason is selling links this penalty just effects the toolbar pr it does not effect your rankings.
Since you have removed the links (hope their period has ended and you warned the buyers or refunded them) make a reinclusion request and you'll gain back your pr.

Im pretty sure it effects more than just TBPR when your penalized. In this case, since he is still in the index the punishmet may not be so harsh, but don't think for a second that Google won't yank your site from their index for breaking their rules.

I also have a penalized site so I am talking as someone that has fallen down the donkey :D
The rankings and the hits did not changed.
If it was so harsh everyone will begin to complain about each other and everyone will be afraid to link someone this is not what google wants to do.

Unless they have 100% proof of sold links I don't think they will remove you from the index because they 'think' you have sold links. They just reduce or take away your PR.

If it was more harsh there would be calls of anit-trust and Google does not want that.

it happened to me and i was pr5 i went to pr0 i sold about 20 links i think selling links is the reason but how can they determine if its sold or exchanging links ?

I think both are against the ToS so it does not really matter, but how do they know you do not link to the other site as a resource? They don't really know and that is why the penalty does not effect your ranking or traffic, just the little green bar.

Some of my sites also had their PR changed. Some went from PR 5- 3 others went from PR 4-0 and there were no links sold. Even site is indexed and Yahoo shows nice Backlinks. What can I say, I am too much worried about Google changing the rankings each day .

But the good thing is site is still indexed in Google and receiving some traffic from Big G

My site was pr5 (www.engineeringserver.com ) and went to pr0 some time ago and it still pr0. Too bad it got penalized but i'm not really worried about losing readers as my site gets quite a lot of readers 1k+ average/day. Hope they would still remove the penalty though but i wouldn't count on it anymore. I hope yours will get back to what it used to be.

Why does an advertiser purchase link from your site? Seeing that it has high PR. It's not becuase you are ranking very high for a search term, but seeing that you have high PR. So, all Google does is remove your PR so that you don sell any more of such links. And any more of advertisers would not purchase your PR0 links.

So Google may drop your site to PR0, but they are highly unlikely to drop you from search rankings for the keywords you optimized for. Because, you ranked that high because of your merit, and the content. By selling some links, your merit doesnt go away, so they won't just drop you.

The remedy: dont give excessive sponsored links, if u have 2 highpr blogs, u can distribute the links. also check ur purchasers carefully, check wer else they get links. also intersperse the sponsored links with normal links to high value pages, which do not spam, and never ever anywhere use "sponsored links" "paid links" financed links" etc., just use somehting like "my recommended sites" or my haunts or places I visit often.

A link is still valuable on a good relevant site, especially if there is some traffic too.

You need to submit a re-inclusion request via www.google.com/webmasters
