unless you took any of the content that you sold to them, theres no problem. nothing is stoping you from creating a website that is simply like another. (besides, they probably lied about the lawyer thing anyway, to scare you.)

Even if you did have a contract I'm guessing it would be unenforceable because of your age.

    Tell them to sod off.

i took a constitutional law class last semester and the only way you could get in trouble was if you signed something saying you cant use the same ideas, you used the same template as them, plagiarized, or have the same or close to the same name as they do if its copyrighted.

No he won't get into trouble even if he signed anything of that nature, that is normally called a restriction of trade clause, but because he is a minor, he is exempted from any legal binding contracts even if he signed.

Only legal contracts that can be binding on a minor are contract that provide essential services of which internet business is not one of them.

I could be wrong here, but didn't the OP say his dad was involved in the transaction and thats why his checking this out (didn't want his dad to get in trouble)

Therfore if there were a contract it would be the father that would have to uphold it?

No he uses his dad's details but that does not matter at all in his case as there is no proper contract etc for the buyer to enforce his rights.

Yes that's right. As everybody said, your a minor and even if you singed a contract it would be void (hope "void" is the right word, it should mean that the contract doesn't count ;) )

You shouldn't use fake details in future, not very wise.

Yeah that's what I meant - he shouldn't use someone else's details, as it puts that person at risk through no fault of their own

Yeah i do agree, although he didn't say that his father never agreed to it. Maybe he got his dad's permission but wanted to do additional legal checks to make sure things are ok.

I guess you've grown up a bit through this process.

The reason there is legal protection for minors is because they do foolish things.

Rather than be deceitful and trade under your father's name you should make it clear to buyers that you are a minor and as such subject to contractual limitations. If the buyer decides not to deal with a child then that's all just part of the process. After all you would probably be discriminated against in the real world too.

Lets hope your Dad did know what you were up to, because next time it might be a knock on the door with a legal document being delivered!
