Hmmmm this may proove to be an interesting thread. I'm amazed you haven't noticed Jamie promoting that directory and the script here over the past few months...
Yeah someone pointed it out not long ago, its one of the most obvious cases ive seen of copying. Hence why i have such a personal interest in learning CSS properly and covering my own designs for everyone of the websites that i own.
looks completly the same as botw.org but I didnt notice it before, however I have to say I am impressed because it seems like a high quality directory too.
There's a very logical reason as to why, which 99.9% of DP buffoons wouldn't understand. I don't need to explain anything to anyone spider-man but seeing as I have an hour before the cup final I will make it clear that I don't own the directory outright, but do have a strong vested interest in it. I'll also gladly defend my corner since my names been bandied about here. I love the design and agree 100% it looks similar, ITS SUPPOSED TO! We're quite happy to accept we took ideas from botw on design. Point of fact when we asked the designers we gave botw as a SPECIFIC example of how we wanted our site to look. Nice isn't it. A little like cars, they all have pretty much the same intrinsic features but are never exactly the same, there is NO law against that, and as long as that remains the case I don't see anything wrong with taking on board what we felt like one of the better designs, adopting them and altering them accordingly. Hope that answers the curious, the plain nosy, the one's who come along just to try and stir, and the peanut throwing gallery who jump on threads with pathetic statements like "its one of the most obvious cases ive seen of copying". Both directories in question do not have the same structure. The CantUFind directory is growing rapidly and both directories have sites listed and not listed and vice versa, as with all directories Regarding the design - it amazes me the arrogance of such people. Why is it many directories using free templates are both profitable in terms of $$$ as well as the feel good factor? Why is that? I'll tell you why - because the design means jack shit at the end of the day. No search engine is ever going to look at a design and say "oh, I like those cute fluffy bits round the side, I like that one the most". Another point of the design being similar is the ambience and versatility of the phpLynx script. It's much easier to design with than other scripts I've tried and tested on the market, you'd be pleasantly surprised. But that's only going to happen if you care to divulge into the script itself. Try the free version for starters. Remind yourself of the features of other paid 'full' versions of other scripts, then compare that to what phpLynx gives you in the free version
as for the lies about who has the design first?? as we all know directories using free templates are most probable QBC or at least no quality directories,the same does and copycats directories. anyway anyone can manage his directory as he wants,is not my business...
