It comes with phpLD 3.3, but the green bars don't fill up...everything shows as a gray bar. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Why not ask over at their forum I'm sure there'll be someone there to help you. Just in case they don't it is something to do with Google blocking your server if I'm correct because Google don't like this kind of thing. I'm not an expert though just trying to help. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will pick me up on it and give you the right answer.
i don't install this mod, i also plan to remove the pr reference option as it's not important for submitters.
I have the same problem. All the submitted links the PR showed are N/A. I checked with phplinkdirectory's forum, and was told that it's my server doesn't support pr calculation. So I have no choice, and just let it show as N/A.
Maybe these will help http://www.directoryspy.com/2007/04/29/phpld-pr-update-tool-v200-now-released/ http://www.linkdirectory.eu/?p=t&t=phpld-pagerank-update-mod-fix
Listen to what others have said here, and also perhaps question why Google actually block your server from making requests. There's probably tens of thousands of directories sucking the juice from Google's servers when they make these queries, Google as everyone knows doesn't like this, its their way of telling you so perhaps?
So why would phpLD incorporate the functionality into the software if it doesn't work. This isn't a MOD.
Hello... PR is a third party tool from google and most directory owners as well as script manufacturers always took for granted the fact that its a selling point for links. The times have changed and PR is ... whatever you want it to be As for the PR updater mod... its being blocked on purpose by google so the best course of action is remove it from your directory within the script admin panel for phpld 3.2 and change to by "date submitted" or "alphabetical" or "Hits" So in your admin panel go to Settings >> Directory >> Enable PageRank: NO Show PageRank: NO Default link sorting: Choose date submitted" or "alphabetical" or "Hits" NOTE: depending on the template being used turning PR off could also remove the thumbshots laterz malcolm
Uh....ok. I guess the best way I can explain it is like this: http://www.web2linkdirectory.com/Shopping/Jewelry/ Look at all the pretty green bars! Google is not blocking this part of phpLD. If you know how to fix it, chime in.
lol agreed.... like someone is trying to give him false info so that he cant fix his stats If ya still dont believe how its done or why google is doing it then please by all means take it to the phpld forum or contact google. laterz malcolm
You could have done that in the first place, that's what the thing is there for. Never mind, you gave it some airtime here and why you should NOT use it. Some people will never learn, guess your one of them. Good luck though as it seems you've achieved your goal which is what its all about.
Is it possible to sort by pagerank but not display pagerank? I like this idea because it helps put the best sites first.
Yeah it is possible - the problem comes when google or your host have problems with the queries and they block them so all return -1. I would suggest that when google can punish a sites serps for things like checking keyword ranks with automated means it would be best not to give them a reason by sending them consistantly high numbers of page rank queries from your directory. There are many examples of top directories ranking sites by methods other than page rank. Yahoo for one.
I have also found this: http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/articlescript/PageRank_Updater_Application_is_Back.php and its seems pagerank is not updated throught the website so it may be safer to use, and there will be no problems with google.
I turned the PR gig off mine months ago as I felt it only confuses ones search in the category. I set mine to list alphabetically, therefore allows you to search the cat faster for what you want...At least it seems reasonable to me.
