I don't think anyone could ever understand this unless they lived in the environment. It's really awful.

Does India laws allow for death sentences? I guess since they kill for honor it is time for them to be killed for "honor" too. Nothing beats a firing squad.

For those who got killed, their life was more precious than honor. And for the killers, their honor was more precious than the lovers feelings.

When you find that you lost your honor, you may kill yourself. But you or any one else do not have the right to force your honor standards on any one else.

India do have a death sentence by hanging. But in these cases, the police won't even take action against the perpetrators as the most of the population supports the honor crap.

It is really a sad incident and its very strange that people are still so backward and conservative in their thoughts and actions. :(

How can they be proud of killing someone!

I don't believe a platoon of special police forces cant apprehend the killers and had them tried in court, a lead bullet is harder than any amulets.

When the cops support the honor crap, how is the laws going to be protected? The normal police do not have any guns here. Even the ones who have it can not use it without an order from district collector.

Isn't there any attorney generals or national police etc? It would be absurd to see one of the fastest growing country and home to some of the largest software development houses and exporters of some of the most brilliant software engineers can't even apprehend a murderer.

The police is not independent in India. They are selected by politicians and the cops will follow their orders only. The politicians will not do any thing to antagonize their vote bank.

Unfortunate reality of the real world is not very pleasant to know of. And we can't do pretty much any thing about it as happened in the case of Darfur. Every one knows what is happening in darfur. But nothing is happening there to take care of the culprits as well.

India is not Sudan, if they really think that they are Darfur, guess there isn't much that can be done.
