    Hi,

I wonder if this way of black hat SEO actualy works.

My friend told me that when you cant SEO good enough to pass your competitors, you can create pages(copy exact pages with free or paid domains, free host) with exact content of your competitors. So that search engine would penalize them for duplicated content.

    What do you think?

It won't work. Google counts the first page as the original and all the others copies - no penalty for the original. You could also get sued for copyright infringement. Don't listen to that friend.

that's so rude, what if someone does that to your site? i don't think your site will get penalized for that since google has a record for original and duplicate contents, the duplicates can/and will experience the penalty :)

It doesn't work like that, the domain with the most authority will rank.

So in this case, if the site owner can't make his own domain authoritative enough to outrank his competitors he's got zero chance of making several sites more authoritative.

This tactic is flawed before you even bother to put up a page.

Allthough not 100% sure i think this happend to me. One of my sites (foreign language) dissappeared from the serps, it was ranking nr2 for my keyword before for over a year. When i checked, i noticed that a international site had copied my content (title, keywords, body) and put it on theirs site.com/language/ And Cos their domain site.com is allot stronger then my local domain (site.country) my guess is that google asumed i was the one with duplicate content.
