I started about 10 minutes ago. I'm on level 3. Such vague clues. I've gone as far as using a password cracker (which sucks, running a dictionary attack) and a hex editor. Most of these type games have better clues. I prefer winrar, and passwords are important.
there is no need to use a password cracker on level 3. The clue is right in front of your face. Look at the title
I think the reason I'm having trouble with this is that the clue (while vague) doesn't tell me if I should look at the title of the page (in the bar at the top of the window), the title question about winrar or winzip, or the <title> section of the source code.
Not exactly. That's the kind of clue that smacks you across the face...lol. What do you do with the spam you get in your email? To be honest, it's a much easier clue than the one for level three. It's frustrating me, because I'm thinking it an answer to a question (or two) but cannot figure out exactly what it is. There are just too many options, and it's too vague. If this is medium, I'd hate to see the Expert challenges (probably like decrypting Blowfish using only a pencil, paper, and a calculator)...
Awesome. Now the clue makes more sense...heh. I'm still stuck with the lack of direction of level 3. Even hackthissite was easier.
Yeah. The 'clue' for level three is way too vague to be viable. So many possibilities. Too many. Without being able to decrypt the stored password, it would take way too long to figure it out. And if it's a combination of words, a dictionary attack is just not logical.
