Among all the popular website i wonder how automattic makes money? I see no ads or watso ever... any ideas?
You mean the company itself ? Well, they make money through Add-on features at http://wordpress.com/products/ and paid VIP hosting at http://wordpress.com/vip-hosting/ which charges $500/mth and above. I am sure they do get donations along the way and fundings http://toni.schneidersf.com/2008/01/22/automattic-fundraising/ . In fact recently, they just got $29.5 million in funding. They would have more than enough money not to rely on advertisement.
Not that there is a lack of humor here, but the company had been a great company, jokes should be fun but not harming the innocent.
They sell weapons to private military groups in south africa.
