you're right. it's the insurmountable delegate lead that makes it over for Hillary. Edwards' endorsement was just a good political move to win the news cycle. Edwards should also be a valuable tool to use (even if he's not VP) during the general election campaign.
I know you have to wait until the fat lady sings but this is just too much play going on. Edwards is too late to help Obama and Clinton just wants to be seen on TV.
The media makes Obama win, just like they hid Ron Paul's campaign. Its obvious, the Next time an American war happens, its not going to look like a Racist war because the American president would be black. Just like they tried to preach democracy by having a 'black' 'woman' politician condaleeza rice with all that power. When any one before her and after her will be doing the same job and the same decisions. (Becuase of AIPAC) The jobs got nothing to do with race but what Im saying is that this is more American Spin and propaganda. All presidents end up doing the same thing anyway. And have you ever asked your self how someone as dumb as Bush could get to the white house? Some one that dumb? Its got to be spin.
Haha, yeah, maybe. But Obama needs someone towards the center to help him and Edwards is as left or lefter than Obama. I think the Governor of Ohio or Webb from Virginia would help Obama. I really don't see Hagel running with him on a Democratic ticket, but if he could make that happen I think that would almost be a slam dunk.
I agree, I think he needs a centrist and somebody with experience to counter what he lacks and what are positives for McCain
I did a google news search for hagel obama after I made my last post and to my surprise Hagel isn't doing much to downplay rumors of him being a possible running mate. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Chuck_Hagel_feeds_Obama_VP_speculation_0513.html It would piss a lot of the lefties off but if they seriously want change and unity I think that ticket would go a long way to achieving that.
during the general election; the top of the ticket typically moves to the center; while the vp secures the base - hence a moderate bush and a conservative cheney; a moderate clinton and a liberal gore. etc etc etc. Given that it'll be tough for Obama to move to the center with a cranky McCain sitting there watching Golden Girls, that might have to change. McCain will have to pick a conservative VP or he'll be in trouble with his base.
McCain will probably choose Romney or Huckabee, but both pose problems. Romney is a Mormon and won't help with the SoCons defecting to the CP. Huckabee is a SoCon, who won't help with the FisCons and libertarian Conservatives. I've heard some other names spread around, like Sarah Pallin (sp?), Newt Gingrich, Mark Sanford etc. I don't think any of them help, particularly Newt. McCain needs to either shore up the SoCons, or bring someone who has fiscal experience, which Romney has in spades.
Huckabee is done as of today. He will not be VP. Too many in the part don't want Romney. Palin is being held for future elections, I believe. Same with Jindal. Gingrich brings too much baggage.
Just went for a drive, and thought about Jindal, and yeah, it's not his time. Besides, I don't think he brings much. I doubt it will be Sanford although he can preach to the SoCons and the FisCons. He opposed McCain on almost everything though, if not overtly, then certainly spiritually.
I think McCain best chance to win would be to go with Huckabee. He may have to go with a minority. I would really like to see Colin Powell as his VP.
Huckabee is done after his little comment at the NRA today. Unfortunately, he's a winner with the religious right - which is disconcerting, but anyways. I'd like to see Hillary as McCain's VP. Heads all over the country would just explode and it'd be a hoot to watch it happen.
Hucks comment/joke today was in really really poor taste McCain / Lieberman 08 No matter who he picks he will lose.
