ODP Updating

    How often does the ODP update ? I get the feeling its every so many months ?
    would I be right?

    The ODP updates daily...

    Not every category mind you, but new sites are added on a daily basis.

    It depends on the editor(s) that are managing the category, some are more active than others and some categories don't have editors at all.

    Also editors are only required to make one edit every four months - and that edit does not have to be adding a site.

    Hello mrix. Many hundreds of changes are made every day, all over the ODP, including quality control, site additions/moves/deletions, category rearrangements, and title/description rewrites (to name just a few of the activities volunteers undertake).
    If you mean how often is the RDF made available to downstream users, it is about every week or so, although AOL technical glitches sometimes interfere with this schedule.

    Of course those users (like the Google Directory for example) may not actually use the data to update their own material as often as that, but that is their responsibility.;)
