Google SERP Question

How quickly could a site expect to gain in serp with directory submissions? Does this happen regularly, or do sites only gain serp after the PR updating?

Yes, directory submissions do help (in my experience) I have a site with low PR which does very nicely in SERPs? the two are not directly related. however, on the whole, a site with high PR may well perform better than a site with low PR (but not always), many people feel it is not the actually PR that is driving the good SERP results, more that PR is a outward sign of quality and popularity. I have lots of PR 2 sites that outrank PR 5 sites in google.

Don't bother chasing PR, chase relevent back links from sites on the same theme as your own and give the vistor good original/interesting content and everything else will fall into place.

if im not mistaken, you have to wait for days to see the effect of your directory submissions as far as the SERPs is concern

It would depend on the PageRank of the directory, and if its active or not.

I have learned a great deal from you guysand this forum. I do understand that submitting to directories with a higher PR is time well spent. I have devoted ALL of my submitting time to directories with a PR of 3 or higher.

I also understand that there is a time constraint on the approval process. So, outside of concerning myself with the PR of my own site, and considering an approval from MOST of the directories that I have submitted to, when could I ( or anyone in my position for that matter) expect to start seeing a rise in the serp"s?

Is this a regular updating, or is that serp advance more of a Google scheduled thing?

Directory Submission will bring u good SERP but it takes time.I think one month is a less period to get SERP from directory submission.

In my experience, Using correct and targeted keywords will bring you good SERPs but you have to wait not less than 3 weeks or one month. And it depends on the sites you are submitting.

PR and SERP does not have any direct relation,
still if you have good pr and serp too means, you are more longer safe to your positions.

Submitting to directories is a great source of one way link.. it helps a lot in SERP but it takes time.. higher pr means higher SERP!

PR and serp ranking have no relation

You need more then just directory submission

How long it depends on the competition ...

Yes, it happens regularly. I had the same question and some friends from this forum told me that Google updates its SERPs with every single search, basically. So it could be a matter of minutes until your page's rank will increase (at least theoretically). In real life, it could take some time from a day to a few months (depending on how often the website you link to is spidered).

It depends on how competitive on that keyword. If you entered highly competitive keyword, you need more than just directory submission. You should not rely solely on them.

Directory submission can help your site get backlinks but not all directories give you an equal on link quality. The more editorial on directory, the more trust that search engine (especially Google) give weights on them. How do you know? If those directory have any sites listed because they are paid then that doesn't mean any quality. You should see example of quality directories such as Joeant, Gimpsy, BOTW, Yahoo and more.

You should remember that most of free directories are new and their deep pages has not been cached or indexed. How those page/category give you any value if they cannot be seen by search engine bot?

SERP Updates regularly not unlike PR which takes about months. for SERP if you have submitted to quality site changes would be elicited in about 2-3 sometimes 7 days

SERP updates constantly. But directory submission will not help you much in slightly competitive keywords.

Directory submissions will improve your rankings in the serp, your rankings and
your pr are not related in any way. To get the best results you should try
to build backlinks from different sources such as article submission, blog
    postings, and press release distribution.

Directory submission will get you some backlinks. But I think you can't get a good boost from these backlinks to help you rank high in search results.

You will not see most of the backlinks from directories in google webmaster tools.

I suggest you try to get some backlinks from high PR pages, that will surely help your site to rank higher in search results.
