how do you keep away spam from wordpress blog, especially the comment spam. i have seen thousands of spam filtered by akismet plugin, but is there any other way to do this?

Simply use a captcha plugin, or spam karma.... spam sucks! I can feel ya man. For me akismet does the trick though :)

i am sick of those spam! so i have enabled users need to register before they comment. People who want to comment easily without signingup may not like registering!

You could try the Akismet plugin that's built into WordPress. It requires a WordPress.com API key. It's pretty effective in my experience, and no need for CAPTCHA, etc.

Most, if not all, the spam you get Akismet will catch for you.

I use this and I have my blogs set so that all comments are moderated, I find asking people to register before commenting puts a lot of people off.

I heard of someone using a javascript comment system, where the user needs to click on the "show and leave comments" button to show the comments. That way, spam bots scan the page and cannot find any comment boxes, therefore no spam!

You said that you already have Akismet and are tired of seeing them? Just click "Delete All" and they will be gone for good.

Akismet catches very well, what it left behind for me is normally less than 10 spam comments each time which is easily deleted.
