Regarding google analytics code and a possible normal detection delay?

Hello, recently ive added google analytics to 3 different sites, and i wanted to add it to a forum too, i placed the code but in google analytics it said that the code wasn't detected, i read recently that google can be a bit slow in picking up the code sometimes and wonder if i should leave the code in place and maybe after a day or so it will detect it on the site.

Im not meaning regarding it starting to show stats, i know that takes at least 24hours anyway, i mean with regards to when it detects the code or not, what do you think?

Yep man.. Leave it for a day and it will pick up. If you are caching your forum, it can also take around three or four hours sometime.

Added Text: Hope this isn't a silly question, but on a wordpress blog of mine i added google analytics and the analytics code is added in the head of the page (with a wp plugin) well currently i have trouble with some affiliate banners showing, then not showing, and in IE not showing at all, do you think analytics code in the head of the page could be interferring? maybe i should place the code before </body> as suggested?

Not sure but I think this is the problem, you don't add code in the head section, you add it just before </body>.

You like find </body> in the footer I guess :)

Your right angilina, i think the plugin that ive used in wordpress has basically been uneccessary, as you say its meant to go before </body>

I managed to get it sorted for the forum, i just left it and it eventually detected it.

Now regarding a wordpress blog, im going to move the analytics code from head to body, because of an affiliate banner problem that im having, its probably not related but at least il have the analytics code positioned where it should be.
