Site links seem to be new buzz word and appearing for some of websites but not for all not even if they are in the top. What is the catch how to get the site link generated quickly. I've done the research and gone through the Google guidelines but I'm looking for quick short cut...
I don't think there is a way to get site links quickly. Only old established sites got the site links. If you have a niew site, you will have to work hard and wait for more than 6 months, that's for sure.
Google says it's a manual process, it seems a mystreous to me. I've sitelinks for two of my websites.
Manual you mean someone sits in front of a computer and searches for sitelinks in good website? If it is manual then it must be dumped somewhere in India time to find links and get a back door entry
I don't think site links are done manually because I have seen a few sites (very few) that have site links and one or two of the actual site links are poorly chosen (forum thread or weak page) I definetly think the links are algorithmicly picked - but signs indicated that link structure like 'navbar' of a site plays a role. So far I have seen them on sites 1 year old and older.... but if a site gets real popular quickly I could see it happening sooner..... I also have seen some older sites (with very low traffic) that do have site links that probably don't deserve them - so age has got to be a big factor.... I'm still watching and evaluating it though - like most everyone...
For my three main sites, all show site links when searching the site/company name. Two of the sites use horizontal navigation, one uses vertical. Two have webmaster tools accounts, one doesn't. Only one of the three has an xml sitemap. All three have "old fashioned" html site map pages. All three are PR4 or PR5. All three use basic text menus for navigation, nothing fancy. So, it leaves me guessing why some do and some don't. /*tom*/
my guess is that Google's main criteria for choosing sitelinks is: -well linked pages -pages visited often (Google collects data from various sources like toolbar, analytics etc). Check out this video and its summary over here.
i am also assuming that the site's overall optimization for a particular keyword versus other websites is also a factor for sitelinks. if google considers you the "authority" for a particular keyword in a certain length of time, then they will reward you a sitelink for that search term.
It does not require any time frame, but generally it upto 1 year, one of my 8 months old website has site links, and there is one of my old and established website since last 4 years does not have. May be quality content and pr really matters in it. I have not ever seen site links with the website having pr less than 3...
As per Google guidelines and my observation I can suggest followings 1) Website should have a clear hierarchical structure. 2) Each menu/category shall have its own pages with distinguish description, title and keywords 3) Each of these pages/categories shall have fair amount of text content in it. 4) In page links shall be present throughout the website 5) Sitemap shall be present both page and Google sitemap echoing the above. 6) Get inbound links for each of these pages also. The more the better it would be. 7) Time is obviously a factor. I think above shall be enough to do your bit of work and leave the rest to Almighty ... humm!! Google.
That's still a long way to go, nevertheless if you're aiming for that feature then I hope you know now what to do.
May be Google only make sitelink if they think the links are good enough for the site reader, google try to think like "human"
I have no idea. Could be a "clear hierarchical structure" problem. Most of the well established sites that I visit do have sitelinks.
