Absolutely right. A case in point is stumbleupon. I try and and get my interesting links stumbled..and usually the most interesting stuff gets the most traffic from SU, and some links dont get traffic at all!

 

Most social bookmarking sites are no follow so you will not get any seo benefits
from these links in google so it's not considered an effective method of linkbuilding
but social bookmarking links are good for generating traffic. I receive quite a bit of
traffic from these links.

 

Yes kingofsanda, digg and propeller are the best examples of such traffic generating sites

 

Since 'SB' is now a banned topic around DP...can anyone tell me any other sites or forums where I can pay people to bookmark my sites on various social bookmarking sites?

Digg too is very good to attract links. The problem is that people that visit my site reffered by digg are not clicking my adsense ads.

 

yes i tried it many times and it will help you to get better indexing and traffic from search engines and also you will get good traffic from social bookmarking sites . so firstly put some good content in your site and then start your seo and do bookmarking also because its a major part of seo

 

I've used this every once in a while. It does provide with some quality backlinks, especially if you end up getting a lot of people to bookmark your link, although that takes some luck or a really good article to get done.

I'd suggest submitting articles to a few as a regular link building technique. It gets your site out there.

I do agree with you. I'm just beginning with social bookmarking and I'm already receiving traffic and backlinks.

I have a storefront that I am building links to and the owner of the program set up a social bookmarking service for all the articles we write on our site. I have signed up for 5 accounts at Technorati and 5 at backflip.com and have seen good results pretty quick. Its setup basically that I can just it submit and it will send it to all the ones I have signed up for giving me 10 backlinks for each article I do.. He has 2 other sites to sign up for but Im wondering how many is to many per day to submit to..

yeah .. it actually depends on what kindof site your are marketing ..

 

I also get a lot of traffic for my blog from stumbleupon and propeller.
This is not waste of time, this technique gives back links as well as traffic.

I use social sites that are in my targeted niche and they work wonders. I've seen a few extra links to my sites but really that's not the point of social marketing (at least not for me anyway)

 

Serves as good way of putting out linkbait as well.

Link bait means an article which is written in such ways that it attracts attention, becomes quite popular...and make people link to it (hence the word "linkbait")...
